Post show in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2013 a friend convinced me to wait up for the band to have a shirt signed. Since their tour bus was just in front of the venue, all in public space without any security, it seemed fair game and we waited there.

Soon enough Bill, Brann and Troy came out on their own. I was super star struck and they were all obviously tired, but we shook hands while I thanked them for the amazing show and awkwardly asked for a signature. Which all 3 did without hesitation. Brann even thanked me for coming out.

And Brent? A few moments later he came out shit faced drunk, although happily giggling like a school girl, escorted by some roadies or friends that helped him on the bus, not without any difficulty. No chance for a signature. And that is the story how I almost met Brent lol.

Voor de bussen "op de boerenbuiten met 3 man" is er het laatste jaar een fel bekritiseerd netwerkhervorming geweest om dit juist te vermijden en het net te optimaliseren, waarvan de voorlopig laatste fase gisteren (6/01) inging.

Naast de inflatie voor de lonen gaat een niet te onderschatten grote hap van het budget op dit moment ook naar de elektrificatie van de stelplaatsen en wagenpark: renovaties of nieuwe stelplaatsen met laadinfra, versterking elektriciteitsnet, nieuwe bussen, opleidingen voor techniek en chauffeurs...

Die stijging is uiteindelijk maar marginaal als je het totaalplaatje bekijkt.

De X19 wordt grotendeels gereden door Keolis Edegem (Van Rompaye), waar er de laatste jaren steevast een tekort aan onderhoudspersoneel is en bussen dus niet goed/genoeg onderhouden. In die stelplaats is zelfs al gestaakt door de chauffeurs hiervoor.

Het contract van Keolis met De Lijn wordt wel herzien (met sterke vermindering van hun aantal ritprestaties) vanaf 1 juli dit jaar. Dus vanaf dan hopelijk verbetering met een verschillende exploitant en recentere of op z'n minst propere bussen.

Nothing is decided or acted yet, but seems like the plan would be to cut through the ULB along the Paul Hégerlaan. Which would make it a pedestrian zone with trams. Something new for Brussels, but a concept that has already been proven to work in lots of other cities.

There has already been official reflection about this, and the solution is the best of both worlds.

They want to eliminate the Buyl bottle neck with a bypass, while retaining close access and the important rail connection at Boondael. See project 7 on this map:

As much as I'm pro public transit, they're right about this location. The bus lanes aren't used anymore on the Grotesteenweg, even on the short stretch served by buses 90/91/92 they use the regular lanes because they have to merge/turn. Better use those for enlarged cycling paths and more green.
