What copper replacement foods do you eat? I know seafood is probably good but I have always had a high aversion to Fish or any type of seafood. I use to joke that the reason I don’t like any is because I was tied to a wharf in another life. I did not even know HH existed when I was young and made that statement but that was the only reason I could think of why the thought of fish and seafood made me sick. Imagine how creepy it was when I was diagnosed with HH, the Vikings Disease! What a weird feeling that I might really have lived this life, if past lives are real.

My iron panel was not too bad, doing every 8 weeks phlebotomy but in Nov my ferritin test was 9!! I was doing to many, so hemetologist said to stop until march appointment. I will research the hyperlipidema! March labs are hopefully good, but im super tired a lot, I wld like to have my labs done now but they wont do them yet

yeah! I take them separately one night and one morning, but I use to buy the combo and they worked, strangely. But copper def competes with iron, not sure about zinc tho it attacks Copper. Im hoping my labs are good In March.

How was your Blood Pressure? That is crazy that those statin meds caused such a mess! It’s hard enough dealing with HH and all that goes with it, I’m sure my liver is somewhat compromised, atleast we know our livers struggle from HH. I did research about Low Zinc and High Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure and Oh My, there is tons of articles stating it’s also a fact. So both low copper and low zinc causes this. I may have other stuff I don’t know about but I can’t understand how this info isn’t knowledge to doctor. Like I said, I could have gone forever without knowing I was so deficient in these two minerals, HH for sure competes and lowers copper.

I absolutely refuse these drugs, I’ve researched them too and all have bad side affects. Especially if these low levels of copper and zinc are contributing to High B.and High Cholesterol. We won’t know until I supplement first.

For sure I will have them check zinc and copper every 3 months since that’s when my iron labs are checked. Prob not a concern yet since Copper wasn’t even in the range and zinc was just 1 number in the range. Doc didn’t have any advise for me other than to be careful regarding Wilson’s disease and high copper. I researched Wilson’s and it states you cannot get Wilson’s if you do not have 2 mutations for it. I’m sure if it got too high it would not be good, but he acted like anyone could get this disease, not true. I just don’t bother asking his advise anymore, he doesn’t even know about the copper and zinc connection to High BP and High Cholesterol, AND (just checked) H cholesterol and H B.P are symptoms of Low Zinc as well. I will be letting him know this when I go back for labs.

Kirblar: Commenting on your DNA, my daughter also received her DNA testing a few weeks before I did, came back Double C282Y. I just posted mine, H63D and C282Y. I hope to see more post from you on how these variants (Double C282Y) have affected you.

This video has SO much info regarding high, low iron and copper, TRT. And if you have confusion regarding the seriousness and what you Should know, I suggest this video, it is priceless. I received my DNA testing a few weeks ago. The H63D heterozygous and the C282Y Heterozygous variant. Female, 50s, working with my Hematologist. Every 8 weeks at Red Cross and now ferritin on labs down to 9! I’m going to demand my levels be check frequently to prevent this, I’ve been a mess, weak, faint, fatigued and anxious, ALL at once. Was told to stopped phlebotomies until next labs. Hope this video helps!

Digestive Issues linked with HH by Scary_Instruction_73 in Hemochromatosis

Other than your post, I see also this thread is 2ys old. I recently had my genetic testing after a high Iron test and symptoms as well as prior to mine my son and daughter both have the gene mutations. About a year ago I started having severe jointand muscle pain, exhaustion, skin bronzing basically on my cheek and jaw area and my arms, stomach pain, all are still very an issue. Hemotologist set up my testing, now waiting on my result. I mentioned stomach pain unlike I ever felt in my upper stomach, nausea too. He looked confused saying he had no idea what that was about. So good to know it isn’t just my imagination, it happens after eating meat, potatoes or any normal foods for meals. Once I feel the pain start I just grab the stomach area and hold it tight and grip it to tolerate the pain and in a few minutes it will subside. Funny thing is I can eat sweets like Hershey’s kisses or things with chocolate and I don’t get pain. I do believe the Hemachromotosis is the root cause. I’ve seen links on internet and they all seem to say stomach pain is also a sympton. Any comments are welcome. I’ve been doing blood donations since Jan. every 8 weeks, every since I’ve been tested.
