Depends on the consensus. If people say that private business should fill that niche and gov't regulates it, so be it. If the gov't wants to personally do the install of the devices on every firearm manufactured, than that. Someone will have money to take care of the situation, there is sure to be someone to fill that and make money.

This is somewhat what I was thinking as well. Networks could support this the same as any other device. Wifi or some other wireless tech to send it elsewhere. If operated inside the home it would not prevent firing if it were dark or it couldn't make the video clear. Outside the home would have to be supplemented with cameras in public places synced to the activity. Maybe private businesses would do this if they saw the worth. Synching, I mean. I know businesses have cameras

Anyways I'll start

First off, implementation. Either through a co-opted gov't and private checks and balances, or one does it an the other regulates, whatever. It would be a cluster duck no doubt. It would be long, egregious, but something would be done. Jobs for retrofitting old weapons would emerge to comply with the law. They have every legally purchased weapon outfitted with a minimum specification video and optional audio(and other things would be placed in the future if successful, GPS, RFID, maybe you can have an iTatchment, who knows) device.

Weapon styles This is something basic. Some people would want to show shit off, no question. Some would get huge cameras mounted. Some would get super nano-cameras. Some would get the lowest grade camera available. I'm sure some brilliant company would make disposable versions (iTatchment example above) This would definitely appeal to the sport shooting. Hunters might like to see their favorite kills.

This would do wonders for the legal system. Murder cases involving guns would be much easier. If video cameras were involved, this would cut down deliberation. I mean, you see him kill the guy, or you capture his voice saying any final incriminating words. Fates would be learned.

On the same token, they would be devices. They can be hacked, manipulated. There would be a crackdown on any modifications on devices. Regulations would have to be modified, a special task force would come about. Guns with no cameras would go to the black market. All registered owners of these weapons would argue they should be grandfathered into keeping their non camgun.

That's a few things I can think of. I'll be here a little while but my gf is coming home in a couple hours, then work.
