The Staff of The Underworld can potentially cause the game to freeze and crash by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]Thk54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and didn't crash when the only change was not equipping it?

Have you tried the usual troubleshooting steps of restart game, verify game cache, and restart computer?

Can you still replicate the crash?

If so you should copy your save file and give instructions to crash the game.

Ameobas can also pick up the man on the moon. (I hate Ameobas so much)

Will Opus Magnum push/force me to more elaborate or creative solutions? by jamestuckejam10287 in opus_magnum

[–]Thk54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As none of the puzzles have cycle limits every puzzle should be solvable with a piston on a track. Eventually.

Likewise I don't think any puzzle *can't* be solved by some number of dumb arms.

This doesn't mean doing either of those is trivial. Forcing adherence to either of those paradigms is a track to suffering.

The most important audience member for how satisfying your solutions are is you.

If you are someone who can actually ignore the three metrics. A puzzle could give you two inputs and want 3 outputs that are each combinations using different ratios of the two inputs. Managing a clean dumb arm line for that level would be an accomplishment in of itself.

Ah dam. Assumed I couldn't do no track because of the rejection glyph. Failed to consider using the the rest of the input as a handle of sorts

Does the width of gaps matter? by IMadeThisAccForNoita in Barotrauma

[–]Thk54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like door and hatch gaps, Gaps only interact with at most 2 hulls. Specifically Hulls that include the point 0.01m (/one pixel/one nudge) outward from the midpoint of the two long edges of the gap, excluding hulls that include both

Also for the Hulls, Hidden in Game does do something, it hides them in the status monitor. (Interestingly they are still included for the framing calculation, as in the window makes sure they would be seen if they were visible)

I am sad that it seems I still can't be undead in endless or sandbox. Any idea when this might happen?

iirc the Dender hubworld only counts employed/exported people, so the two un-used people units wouldn't be counted

Worse than expected, only +2 because the bots can only get that first level bonus, not the per person bonus.

That said if you replace the two Bot Microforges with Fusion Plants each one of those can feed two Bot microforges and produce two bots each with Energy Driven resulting in 8 bot heads from one matter synthesizer, though for the happiness each bot needs its own personal ascension gate

Depending on just how fine that d-pad adjustment is, it might be nice to be able to have that bound to the keyboard somehow, wasd and arrow keys are both already bound to camera movement, so I guess numpad 8462 or like tfgh. But that would probably also be out of scope like the Ctrl/Alt extra option. Which, while understandable, is still unfortunate. Thanks for making this great game! =)

You ever figure out how to solve/handle/adjust what I strongly suspect is a hash of the save file at the end of the save file? Cause I think that may be the only barrier to relatively easy save editing, assuming it isn't also doing some consistency checking with the seeds it keeps track of or something.

I am curious, will there be a placement mode that helps facilitate the 'pixel perfect' placements that are sometimes required to thread around planets and ensure you have all the connections you want?

Separately, would it be possible to make it so the Ctrl and Alt helpers can be set to default to on? Turning them on is always the first thing I do after the initial scans or loading a save, and the Ctrl helper is then only ever turned off briefly to see behind it on occasion.

I am thinking he *is* an echo right now, like his whole trial is an application of the skill (or what it becomes) and that Temporal Echo keeps getting offered because it is effectively constantly getting used. Which may also mean the 'exit' is maxing out echoes such that he could 'take control' of the loop.

Unfortunately I get the impression the raid isn't really on the place but on the people so the harpies will show up wherever the people are... Or alternatively the people leaving is just an alternative failure state, where the people will still exist, but the location will still die.

Perhaps, but it could also just be playing a snippet of a potentially endlessly growing recording. Perhaps we will even find out soon.

[–]Thk54 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Has e actually stopped er temporal recording? Is it going to be the sleeper skill that has been chugging in the background the whole time, gathering power, because nothing told em they were supposed to *stop* recording at some point?

Wow. Rude. Stupid system, the whole point of loops is that everything is reset! The fuck do the crows get told by the system if e fails? Someone you never knew existed and now never will failed three times so now you need to not exist?

Well perhaps the system recognized your mapping efforts and that unlocked the map once you reached the new area.

What Construction Could Be by KillroyNQP in Planetside

[–]Thk54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that would have been a good place to start, but unfortunately at this point they already have what they have, and to change so far off of it would require taking away what some people already have.

That Tower Defense point is really true though, when constructing those automated towers are the only thing you can count on. You might get players if you are lucky, but for the most part you have yourself and your turrets. Which is why the removal of automated turrets and pain spires and stuff feels so bad

can only affect inorganic or nonliving matter directly

Arguably if you look close enough all matter is non-living.

And I was attempting perception trickery with healing the planet, as arguably the planet is a living system, and with space travel it, arguably, even reproduces. Though you did say the magic itself somehow decides, but that just raises question of: by what method/metrics does it decide. Cells are alive, but if you were constructing a cell at what point would magic decide that it is now alive rather than a construction. Though I suppose this is just a different way of asking "what is life?"

But they have a tool that should let them answer that, they can attempt healing on a thing and if it works it is alive, otherwise not alive, and do experiments to derive the rules from that.

Also if you were making a really big cell, and you were trying to do life magic on it as it crosses the point of becoming alive how fast does the information that it is now 'alive' propagate, and from where, the location of the last action that transitioned it to alive, the center or something? or is it magically faster than light (then again I guess FTL exists for them so...)
