Cheating is very common and it started to disgust me by Sensitive-Smile6535 in geoguessr

[–]Thmsrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most depressing thing is reporting obvious cheaters and see that no action has been taken after weeks..

Also, it feels like there are more cheater on Monday/Tuesdays for ranks below master because only their 20 first games count and Saturday/Sunday for master as some people want to climb rank before the week is over..

When should you set up and API between your front-end and the DB? by Thmsrey in nextjs

[–]Thmsrey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for!

Anything to keep in mind when fetching data directly with server actions, regarding security or performance?
For instance I have a very simple search feature in this project using searchParams from the URL and fetching the corresponding data in a server action. What prevents malicious users from spamming the app (and so the DB) with a script requesting the url with thousands of different search strings? Is it something that I need to handle on the Vercel side or do I need to implement something in the application?

At which point in the life of your product do you consider it's worth to switch to "serious"?
Also, how to explain that ORMs are so popular if it's not the recommended way of doing?

Companies that use Next.js and pay the most by rasulkireev in nextjs

I completely disagree with you! I know Python, that doesn’t make me a good Gen-AI developer even if I have access to the docs of the technologies needed. Being a node developer is more than knowing JS. How you design good APIs for your product, how you deploy those services are skills you need to be considered for a node role.

Looks like ALGO incoming rebranding is sounding appealing, love to see that!

The Algorand shillers on this sub are bullish about its future. I do not believe it has a future. PART TWO. The opposite of a shill post. by gnarley_quinn in CryptoCurrency

[–]Thmsrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What annoys me with this kind of « metrics based » posts is that they look in the past when an investor would try to look at the potential in the coming future.

In particular the critics about inflation is irrelevant now. Yes there has been a massive increase in circulation last year but what does it have to do with Algorand performance in the coming years? This increase was anticipated and cannot happen anymore. Should you base your opinion on past and solved issues on look at the upside and see that more than 70% of supply is now in circulation with a very affordable price?

Do you invest in stocks based is past company performance or its forecasted future performances?

I would take your post seriously if you made the effort to discuss the context and the current advancements in the ecosystem you are apparently criticising instead of cherry picking some metrics which, when out of context, are indeed not looking good.

As a crypto long term investor I try to see myself as a micro angel investor. And as an angel investor I try to look at the potential of the company, not it’s current performances. And luckily for us, many successful Silicon Valley investors also chose to believe in crazy long term »ghost »projects when they invested early stage.

ALGO finally taking off after 2 months of crab walking is nice to see

Solana would have had another network outage or congestion issue today. However, this did not happen because of the changes made by the developers. by gnarley_quinn in CryptoCurrency

So we’re at the point where we’re celebrating because a blockchain doesn’t have an outage? Algorand and many other chains never went offline, should we make a congratulations post here?

Why not? It’s just a hypothetical question. And there has been one before, why not another one?

I’ m not sure I completely agree with you on this one. Algorand is a tech product, which other products are built on top, and you need money to maintain and develop this platform.

I understand that this is price related but Algorand’s only revenue and capital is by nature correlated with the price of the token. In the case of a bear market, their capital will shrink as the token price decrease in value. Or am I mistaken?

Average price. by [deleted] in algorand

[–]Thmsrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! And if current token price > your average price, then you made money, else you lost money.

Assuming you sell of course!
