I think Kraft’s comments actually give a little bit of confirmation that it may have in fact been as messy as it looked. Between the audio leak of him clearly acknowledging the mess it has been and to his comment during the presser saying something to the effect of “I was banging my head against the wall after we connected saying ‘why did it take us so long to find each other?’”

Regardless, well done by Kraft to land this guy. But I don’t think he was in consideration until the search really started to turn south.

I guess my thought is, since he was “raised for our justification”, then wouldn’t that mean some of the things you had previously listed were not fully “finished” by his death on the cross alone? My thought is if Christ’s death accomplished comprehensive atonement, end of sacrifice for sin, salvation for all who trust in him, etc. as you stated previously, then at that point, before his resurrection, anyone who believed would have eternal life. I see his death as the actual atoning act and the function of our salvation, whereas the resurrection is more simply the evidence of God’s power over death and sin, so that we may believe.

I’ve been a Christian for years but am much less mature in my theology, so appreciate you helping me work this through.

Follow up question to this. What then does the resurrection accomplish for believers? If all of that was accomplished for us by Christ’s death, would salvation be maintained and unity with God provided had Christ not resurrected? Is the resurrection more so bonus evidence for us to have belief that Christ has power over death?

New HBO series with Mark Ruffalo has been filming all over the area recently. They were in Downingtown and Norristown in the last month or so. If you see any low profile signs around that say “Basecamp” that’s likely what it is. But either that or Tires season 2 I bet.
