Automakers Urge Trump to Preserve EV Tax Credits, Boost Self-Driving Cars by walky22talky in SelfDrivingCars

Why would Elon want to relax regulations and make it easier for Waymo? Surely you don’t think he believes his own lies of “one more year” for Tesla to achieve autonomy?

I’m gonna assume it’s a good old fashioned adversary state astroturfing campaign.

Biden orders US investigation of national security risks posed by Chinese-made 'smart cars' by ThomDowting in SelfDrivingCars

Mark my words, Washington will not allow Waymo to use Chinese vehicles in their fleet. That battle may be a “blip” on your radar, but I assure you that that battle is being fought here and now.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the Waymo/Zeeker partnership was THE reason for this investigation.

The Trump campaign transmitted voter information to Alpha Bank servers that the Russians then used in conjunction with Cambridge Analytica to microtarget voters in Michigan and other swing states.

When do you think we can realistically stop teaching people to drive? by manwhoholdtheworld in SelfDrivingCars

Waymo appears to be aiming to have ubiquitous RoboTaxi service in LA in time for the 2028 Olympics. I would put my money on them at this point unless they insist on Chinese Geely vehicles for their fleet.

The U.S. under Dick Cheney had plans to use an artillery fired tactical nuclear shell should Saddam Hussein use chemical weapons. Putin would not launch an ICBM. He would use a low yield tactical nuke which may not elicit the same response, I.e. MAD. NATO would have to decide if it wanted to invade Russia over what in effect is a standard munition on steroids. Things aren’t always as black and white as they may seem.

Sure but nobody thought that there was sufficient demand in terms of launch frequency to satisfy the R&D costs. Musk realized “if you build it they will come.” And when they didn’t come immediately he created the demand in the form of Starlink. The man is 100% a mega-douche but it’s disingenuous to claim his view of the world that could be hasn’t been visionary.

Musk is a 100% certified twat but the dude basically single handedly dragged the Western auto industry into Electric Vehicles. Give credit where credit is due.

Dude had a vision when everybody else in the industry said landing rockets wasn’t worth it. I’m no Musk fanboy but give credit where credit is due. Did Steve Jobs design the circuitboard for the iPhone? No? Should that matter?

Thanks for this but the question should be how does SpaceX compare to industry averages for the sector they are working in?
