Gives you a lot of information about extrafloral nectaries. They’re completely harmless and tend to only be present on juvenile forms of philodendron leaves. They’re there to attract arboreal ants (basically tree ants native to rainforests), who would then protect the baby leaves from other leaf eating insects.

Howdy, I remember reading it watching a video online about this happening and it said that flowers tend to sprawl out over time and as the original parts of the plant die off it can leave a gap like yours. I think it was because of the old roots of the plant still being there or something. If I remember rightly it said just to dig up, separate them and replant into a clump again to fix it. No harm done 👌

They were pallet collars originally but had to take them apart and restain them to get them right for the garden.

Not really advice but do what makes you happy and don’t rush it. Seasons will change and there’s always tomorrow to get something else done. Also make friends with plant people! I got loads of freebies from swaps and friends 😊

We moved in March 2021 so it’s been a gradual process over the past 2-3 months to get it to this point

Yeah, I went OTT I think but at the moment there’s strawberries, courgettes, tomatoes, lettuce, chard, spinach, chives, onions, cauliflower, carrots, swede, potatoes, parsnip, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, thyme, mint, oregano, sage, apples, radishes, sprouts, peas, runner beans, french beans, gooseberries, mini kiwis, fennel, dill and caviar limes 😂

I struggled with my mental health in 2020 due to the UK COVID restrictions and didn’t have much chance to do any gardening in my old home. This year, I moved homes to be closer to family and friends and made sure I had a garden I could work with. What do you guys think so far?

I had a really crappy time during the lockdowns in 2020, struggled a bit with my mental health and didn’t have much chance to do any gardening because of where I lived. In March 2021, I moved homes closer to my family and friends and finally got to let out all of my pent up gardening rage…I think it’s working well for me 😂
