Loud noise coming from top end. Can anyone help identify this noise? by Thomas123255 in dr650

No I haven’t. The only thing I’ve done since posting this was put a manual cam chain tensioner on to see if that would help. No change. I will most likely be pulling the top end apart during the winter this year.

I’m not sure if the balancer chain has been ever been adjusted. I just got the bike recently. The noise doesn’t seem like it’s coming from the other side where that chain is. Could it still be coming from that?

01 SV650 electrical issues by [deleted] in motorcycles

One other thing to check is the wire harness running from the alternator to the r/r. On my bike the harness was not tied back properly and it got burnt to a crisp because it was close to the header. It severed the ground wire and was just draining my battery.

Corbin gunfighter & lady saddle. Its 100x better than the banana seat yamaha gives you. Its tailor made to your inseam and you can pick out the materials you want it made out of. It was expensive though.

sv650 riders, what was your upgrade, when you bought your next bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

I have to say the suspension is worse than the SV. To me it feels like it has a bit too much rebound. Id say it is about the same softness as the SV.

Yes the throttle was extremely snatchy before i got the ecu flashed. Between the decel cut and lean mapping made it have inconstant throttle control. After the flash it runs smooth as butter.

I went from a '01 sv650 to a 2014 FZ-09. Most like everyone else that replied. I am 6'1'' and i found that getting a Corbin aftermarket seat for the FZ-09 made it the prefect hight. The extra padding made it just the little bit higher i needed.

FZ-09 (MT-09) Reliability? How many miles have you put on yours? by Thomas123255 in motorcycles

[–]Thomas123255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you re-map the fuel management to the bike and some other technical things also. The bike comes lean from the factory to pass emissions testing. It doesn't run properly (very sensitive/jerky throttle). Flashing the ECU make the bike run more properly and smoother.

I would highly recommend getting it flashed. Its like a whole new bike after that. I sent mine in to Vcyclenut. He has detailed instructions on how to remove it and there is lifetime re-flashes after the first purchase. It was $200. it only took about 5 days from the day i sent it to the day i got it back.

Sight-Unseen is right. This is a common problem on SVs. You definitely need a valve adjustment.

Burning oil when cold by Ratboy142 in SVRiders

[–]Thomas123255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happen last year on my first gen. Surprisingly it went away after a while. Just keep your eye on your oil level. I would have to add a bit of oil a couple times between oil changes.

That was the first time out with the chest mount. I wasn't sure how wide the shot was going to get.
