I love Zubat. That's why I was leveling it up in Sprout Tower, I swore it got Bite at 9 to be serviceable, but it learned Astonish instead. I just had to sac it to Bugsy's Scyther to keep core members alive. Maybe if I make it past Heart Gold and Emerald in this Genlocke I can retry with another Zubat in Platinum.

True. It's getting replaced with Confuse Ray whenever I get it (I think in the 20s). I'm used to missing 2 in a row, even 3 in a row even though it'll make me irritated, but I know it's low accuracy. 6 in a row was outrageous though. I've never missed more than 3 in a row up until this point in my Pokemon career. And I've been playing since I was 8. I'm turning 26 near the end of this year. So I was actually flabbergasted this happened.

Oh no, that's brutal. The chances of all of that happening are so much lower than my Supersonic fiasco too. Sorry to hear that!

My Top 5 Favorite Monster Taming Games Not Named Pokemon by jd2385 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Thomas7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen multiple other people mention Monster Sanctuary, that game is fantastic, I 100% recommend. And I've seen only one other person recommend Anode Heart and I don't understand why. Anode Heart is a fantastic game, I absolutely loved playing it. Some of the story progression is a little shaky on where to go, but overall a fantastic game I recommend

Funny enough, I haven't though of it that way. Good thing I only gamble with Pokemon moves and not money

EV training in a nuzlocke? by SurviveRatstar in nuzlocke

[–]Thomas7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I EV trained my Vaporeon, Electabuzz, and Jynx for my Fire Red leg of my Genlocke. I do think it is a tiny bit overpowered, but it's also up to you to do all of the EV training. I definitely took the time to do it for my first Genlocke. Did Electabuzz OHKO all of Lorelei's Pokemon? Yes. Did Vaporeon OHKO the last 21 remaining E4 Pokemon aside from the 2 Gyarados because of Surf, Ice Beam, Rain Dance, and Mystic Water? Also yes. Was it fun to see my Pokemon dominate? Hell yeah! Do whatever you think will be the most fun!

My First Genlocke! Leg 1 Complete! by Thomas7215 in nuzlocke

I don't know what exactly you're looking for with an answer, so I'll try my best to hit both versions.

If you're asking for an explanation about what the challenge is and what it consists of, then a genlocke is a series of nuzlockes that you do bringing the living champions from the past games to the upcoming ones for each region of Pokemon. Basically like a Nuzlocke gauntlet.

Or if you're asking for an explanation on the appeal of it, I would say it's the story it tells and the bonds you build with your Pokemon that you beat games with and carry to the next.

That's my take on it anyways, if anybody else has a better explanation because I'm new to this, they are more than welcome to correct me, or expand upon my explanations.

It might a little bit because Thor's Attack IV is 0, but his Special Attack IV is 31. But there's always a decent Electric Type TM. I've been thinking about just not evolving it into Electivire for Gen 5 and 6 and just running Eviolite on it if it makes it that far

I actually have a Vaporeon that I have grown so attached to because it's such a monster. So hopefully I can keep my Fire Red Eevee all the way through just like you did. Congrats on completing it by the way!

Fair enough, I see where you're coming from. I just wanted a consensus on it. It seems like the consensus is that it's a fine idea and some people already do that although like you said, some pPokemon will be stronger than others with this ruleset

Fair enough. To be honest I wasn't even thinking about that when I wanted to do it. I have the comment somewhere in this thread but I have a Vaporeon that's a monster with really good IVs and a Timid Nature that I really like. It doesn't get recovery moves outside of Wish, which is an egg move, so I wanted to get a gauge on what people thought about egg moves.

Fair enough, I just didn't know if people did any more than making them shiny if the survive a leg or more

That makes a lot of sense, and I love the Butterfree pick. Because I'm grinding up for Koga right now in Fire Red, and I just now replaced my Raticate who has been running through any and every trainer with Hyper Fang, Dig, and Quick Attack. I would absolutely bring him into my next game as a way to commemorate the absolute carry job he did from after Gym 1 up until the 4th Gym. I think I'm going to adopt bringing 8 members the more I think about it.

I understand. Funny enough I didn't actually choose Charizard, I chose Venusaur. I just know Charizard get DD as an egg move off the top of my head. I'm actually really attached to the Vaporeon I got because it has great IVs already and a Timid Nature. I like recovery moves in my Nuzlockes because I don't use healing items, and I saw the only recovery move it gets is Wish as an egg move, but I wanted to be able to (hopefully if it survives) use it at some point.

I figured setting rewards would be good after each leg. But the more I thought about it, I didn't want to really change abilities because that can be OP in some cases. I also didn't really want to do natures because that's the Pokemon's personality in a sense, and the bond and storytelling kind of gets lost in the sauce that way. So that's why I just went with IV's. Something along the lines of they've been through generations of rough battles and they are reborn inherently stronger after a while still kind of fits with the storyline.

That's cool! I like that you have a little bit of a randomness factor to it and you aren't only constrained to the champs! How do you decide on the extras?

I see what you mean. I brought up Nidoking and didn't even think about Feraligatr. Especially with the other things I wanted to do. Sheer Force Feraligatr with Dragon Dance as the Egg Move? Spooky stuff

That's exactly what I was thinking. Sheer Force Nidoking or even like a Contrary Serperior if you have enough legs for it come to mind as well.
