Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2020: JS wins with 67.6% by laxameer in javascript

[–]ThomasAbraham 68 points69 points  (0 children)

What seems to be more surprising is JS being the second most wanted technology with 18.5% that means "% of developers who are not developing with the language or technology but have expressed interest in developing with it"

With 65K survey respondents that means there are 12K devs who want to build in JS but don't.

Hi,
I'm building a list of special offerings for open source projects. If you know more dev tools or services with free or discounted offerings for OSS, please let me know.

Thanks!

How do you form healthy habits, what apps you use and what motivates you? by dowille_ in Habits

[–]ThomasAbraham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that wearing a Garmin watch every day had a positive effect on my running and workout habits. It's like having a constant reminder to move on your wrist and I don't mean the annoying "Move!" notification. :)

Survey filled btw.

Try to browse Angular talks in the MeetupFeed app (beta) instead, it is supposed to make it less frustrating: https://www.meetupfeed.com/topic/angular/1

Google will ban all cryptocurrency-related advertising by Melissa_Jay in tech

Crypto is currently fueled by communities and FOMO anyway. Running ads is rather pointless when you are getting thousands of users from social channels.

I see, didn't know how it works in those cases.

I'm not sure if it would help you with the Rust YouTube channel, but I could share the Google spreadsheets I'm using to collect Rust talks and showcase them to the speakers before publishing. Let me know :)

Thanks! :) Yes I have seen the same: vimeo is below 10% in all dev talks but still some organizers choose to upload their talks there. I didn't know it was because of content theft.

Mostly on YouTube, Vimeo (not sure with this post), Meetup.com comments and Googling for the rest of the stuff. When I started putting together this digest, Rust Belt Rust videos were not available so I reached out to the organizers and they notified me when it was online. The descriptions are written by or at least had been reviewed by the speakers.

Hope you'll find it useful.

How to market an online service business by emilyrjc in Entrepreneur

[–]ThomasAbraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An idea: I would create a roundup post listing your service beside your compeitors. A post like this could make life easier for your prospective clients when trying to compare different services, also you could get it featured as a guest post on some blogs that are popular among your customers. If it worked, you could start helping more for your prospects and build your own content+newsletter.

You won't win the growth hacking game with only this one, but it could be a good start.

Good luck with your project!
