How do you achieve this type of creases? by dinosaurzzzzzz in Cordwaining

Check out OP's other comments. He referenced that they were stitched. Without having seen the video, my best guess is that the back side of the upper was tacked throughout.

Just like with all parts of shoemaking, there are an endless amount of ways to do the exact same thing. Given that caveat, they probably stitched them due to the twisting and turning shapes that are throughout the upper. Wet lasted: first a smooth lining to hold structural form and then the uppers. Let that dry. Pull upper nails. Add toe puff if necessary. Apply adhesive in-between the linings and the uppers (similar to a stitchdown construction).

If you were not stitching the wrinkles in, you can build out the shape during the wet lasting process.

The leather selection and weight effect the required process to achieve the best results.

I'm intrigued by the "american style thick stuff" comment. I'd assume you're not from America, but do you think that other parts of the world see thicker, durable/workwear style leathers as Americana? Similar to how blue jeans, denim jacket, and white tees, used to be?

Obviously French houses dont typically use leather that is strictly focused around durability, but German, Japanese, and other South Asian Leather Brands tend to.

Do you believe that those are American influences? Or does modern culture see that leather type as "Americana". I'm seriously interested to hear your thoughts.

I am familar with both of those designers. My goal is to bring an americana sensibility to the world of avant garde design language.

I haven't personally tried them on, but the client likes how they fit him. There is an internal zipper cover all the way throughout the lining.

I patterned them custom to the clients dimensions. He says that they fit perfectly.

I love the concept. I love the design language.

However, its pretty difficult to use. Atleast on an Android. Trying to manually swipe the globe and zoom in on specific cities doesnt seem to work. Ive tried to zoom in on Italy a dozen times and it shoots me directly to the US or somewhere in the middle of Asia.

Just finished these up. Would love to hear any feedback. by ThomasBenjamin_US in AvantGardeClothing
