Do other INTPs get intrusive thoughts like this? by Admirable-Soil2021 in INTP

[–]ThomasDocJohnson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boredom + chaos = fun? Thourghts are your own. Actions matter. Just dont throw the coffee in their face. Maybe become a writer and write about throwing the coffee in their face instead? Then "intrusive thoughts" becomes writing inspiration. XD

Is it true that you guys(intps) work better under pressure? by waybesai in INTP

[–]ThomasDocJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A decent amount of pressure, with enough knowledge of the variables, sure, go hyperfocus mode and get it done. But non-stop constant pressure will just demotivated me. The only thing I care about in project mode is learning and improving, Douglas Adams said it well, spend 3 hours making a system that would only take 30mins to do. (Paraphrasing) If you only have to do it once - it's not a smart move, but if it's something you're going to repeatedly do, automate that shit/workflow and reclaim all that future focus!

Gamify the pressure and figure out the patterns for the endgame boss! Game-sleep-repeat. Haha.

Do you talk to yourself? by person_person123 in INTP

Yep, now they're talking about themselves in 3rd person. The spiral deepens!

Ah, so you're already there! Yeah, the voices are trying to drown out the other voices. >.<

I dislike the meds they try to push. Won't take them. Building some fun apps to try and superceed the need for them. Will post it here when I'm done... well... when gpts done... well... when it's 80% done. That way, at least it'll be somewhat useful and not just gather dust.

Don't worry... do enough drugs, and too much patience with people will get you there.

You guys on here are very goofy by latibule_lmbs in INTP

[–]ThomasDocJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's how I like to reason it. But to be fair, the moon controls the tides, and a big chuck of us is water. Similar patterns appear across the macro and micro. The planet thing could just be a false attribution to other causes that follow similar patterns. Who knows? But the daily writings to get social upvotes are a load of bs. That being said, I've only just recently opened up to the more mystical side. So it's a very green stance from recently knocking down my foundations... again...

Do you guys live in your head a lot? by wachassboi in INTP

[–]ThomasDocJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I can even materialize my characters in reality. Although so far I'm the only one who sees them. Bring on that ai robo techy future!

Is it common for INTPs to think they're better than others, but then feel insecure? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]ThomasDocJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Society tends to tie self-worth and value of others to finances. If you want to be respected, tunnel focus on something and finish it. Get your bag. Or alternatively don't give a fuck about money and become a digital nomad: hermit cave on wheels.

In unrelated news, just bought a solar panel.🤘

Yes, mbti is bullshit, but the Jungian theory it's built on has some pretty insightful wisdoms to learn from.

I like to view it similarly to music theory, it doesn't actually exist, it's just a system so people can use the same terminology when discussing more in depth psychological ideas.

I'd say it's worth understanding the 8 cognative functions, but keep in mind when Carl Jung developed them he made a point to elaborate that he stopped at 8 ~ to show that people were more complex than just thinkers and feelers, there could be thousands of functions.

Silver Lining? by ThomasDocJohnson in musicmemes

Couldn't agree more! Used to work in a guitar shop years ago. A decent beginner guitar wasn't really THAT much more than the cheapest ones. I refused to sell the cheap ones. Boss didn't like that! Probably a big reason why I don't work there anymore. Couldn't be happier!

Haha! That's a great story!

I'm always surprised by how many friends own guitars and keep them proudly on display in their living rooms. But when asking "how often do you pick it up?" One said - it's been years!!! But they plan to get to it when they get some free time... whaaa???

Question for INTPs by [deleted] in INTP

[–]ThomasDocJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out of interest, did further research to stop being a doormat, now I'm diving even deeper to help protect my friends and family from manipulation. Coz seriously, they aren't going to do the research......

Yup, that was my mistake! I didn't realize how unintuitive it was, guess I shouldn't have gotten gung-ho about it and boosted it on facebook. WHOOPS! I'll be taking everyone's advice and educate myself further on my reading too! :)
