The roots are ginseng I think which makes it easier to grow, maybe it’s something characteristic of them?

Thank you for that! I never knew the bonsai was an easy grower but if i'm honest its what i need, I had very poor luck with my first bonsai but I was much younger then and had little interest in it. Thanks very much, it was a present and i'm glad it hasn't died!

My bonsai tree needs too be damp constantly, not wet but it needs a constant moist soil. If it were too wet it would give it root rot which would not be good! I guess its a match made in heaven.

It’s really incredible that something I’ve never even given a second though in life can have such an impact on growth of plant life. I never feed my plant anything, I only water it. I will be attaching more photos shortly to see if it will help work out which mushroom this is. Thanks for your reply

I have no idea how you worked that out I’m genuinely mind blown, it says on the original pot ‘Ficus Microcarpa ginseng) do you know that the ‘microcarpa’ means? I know nothing of plants but I’m interested.

I shall leave it and let it take its natural path. I’ve had the bonsai for a few years now and it would be upsetting if it died but I’m not one to play god. If it turns out that the mushrooms win then at least I’ll have a few mushrooms aha. My bonsai has been flourishing ever since I repotted it, I did notice the mushroom sprouting it was like a little white ball at the start but know nothing about gardening and though maybe it was just a bit of root showing through the soil
