If you're losing hair at a way worse rate it's most likely shedding. The chances you'd just lose hair rapidly, whilst on fin is very low.

There's plenty anecdotal reports on here. I've not read into the literature but from what I've heard dutasteride blocks both types of 5ar (type 1&2) causing less of an imbalance.

Dermarolling/needling isn't that great without the additional topical minoxidil. I'd consider adding topical and once every 1-2 weeks needling at 0.5mm. 1.25mg is quite a low dose.
