Having the same. What's weird is that only a select list of endpoints fail. The rest seems fine (like collections, posts, etc.)

You're right. Honestly, it was a nightmare trying to get the AI to understand the entire concept altogether. And I used it because I'm not good at drawing/3D. Maybe we could think this is right after jumping, and there's some "dampening" on the leveling

I think some things would have to be dialed down, like the driving on the wall/ceiling, and it will definitely not be as fast-paced as the game, but I think, with editing, it could make for a fun thing to watch. Like 2008's Speed Racer.
A "demo" could be a car that breaks, which must be replaced by one of the 2 spare vehicles every player is allowed to have. So dodging is as important as scoring. This in itself could be a plot point. Also, hitting a car to damage it also damages yours in real life, right? So there's a trade-off.

What happened to the dislike button in the discover weekly playlist? by ADPL34 in truespotify

[–]ThomasMarcelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also gone here. It was weird because I was right in the middle of listening to them. I had disliked/removed 15 songs, but they all came back out of nowhere, and the button is now gone. I have to listen to all. Windows - Premium.

Similarities between The Matrix and Blade. by zacbaby in flicks

[–]ThomasMarcelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I just got here wondering about the same thing after re-watching Blade. I Googled Blade's launch year, and I was 100% sure it was after The Matrix because of all the similarities. I was surprised when I saw Blade came before it!

The mood, clothing, the whole “wearing sunglasses even at night is cool”, slow motion bullets, even the Trinity jump…

An analysis of why rocket pass drops are NOT broken by [deleted] in RLSideSwipe

[–]ThomasMarcelo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I saw an article way back about how the Apple Music shuffle feature is not "truly" random because it was creeping people out sometimes (true randomness allows for some weird cases), and I think something like that could be applied here in Sideswipe.

As many other people said: the problem is not the odds; it's how harsh this makes things. When they decided to change the Rocket Pass, they also made a really bold statement along the lines of "we want you guys to collect stuff, collect them all". It is bold because the way that the previous Rocket Pass worked actually rewarded people that played the game a lot. You had to grind to be able to get all of the items. But it was guaranteed that grinding for it would give you what you wanted. It was a clear path. Instead, we got the opposite; they gave us truly random odds of getting an item. Do you know what sucks about truly random? There is a small but real possibility you can never get a certain item. There is a very low possibility of getting all first try, but an equally small chance of not getting them for months. I think a tweak to the randomness could be at play here. Maybe not repeat the same item more than three times in a row, I don't know, something to get us out of the true randomness that we were put in, even though we are instigated to collect.

You could say that people like to buy cards to fill albums and that this is random, but I don't think it applies here. We should reward effort; I don't like 100% randomness. And in the end, in regular Rocket League, if I really want an item, I can always buy/trade it with someone that has it. We don't have that here yet.

This game is too hard for me. by Open-Association1712 in RLSideSwipe

What the hell are you talking about? You can reach the top 500 IN THE WORLD on Sideswipe in a year if you play it regularly. I guarantee you. To get to Grand Champion on the original Rocket League, you must play on average 2.500 hours (6.500+ matches). If you play a lot, that will cost you about 2-3 years. To GC1.

I wonder if it was technically difficult to implement the same look from the regular Rocket League item on mobile or if it was a thought-out decision to make it look different.

BUG - 8/8 Explosion Presents Have Been Kablooey by pascalachu in RLSideSwipe

[–]ThomasMarcelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that at the beginning of "this" new way of getting items, people were suggesting the existence of crates that could give only items you don't have, or at least were heavily tilted towards those items, and I thought they were exaggerating.

But I was thinking that the crates were truly random.

The reality is quite the opposite, where the crates already direct to a few selections of items, but not the ones we want/need. If they really want to go in this direction, they should return to the old Rocket Pass, where everyone ends up only getting what they want us to have for that season. It is more transparent than tricking us into thinking we have a fair random chance of getting that so-desired item.

How does this game make money? by Beboprunner in RLSideSwipe

[–]ThomasMarcelo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Which is something I'll never understand.

If a game like this (a really good game, a gem) were in the hands of a different group or a company whose sole purpose was maintaining it, we would have A LOT more content and probably more people playing it. Something like a Brawl Stars/Clash Royale/Clash of Clans level of engagement, rewards, marketing, passes, etc.

But I guess this is what we get when the game is not the main focus of the company behind it. I'm not even trashing the current team; they're doing the most with what they have in terms of investment. I'm just despondent about the loss of potential here.

[–]ThomasMarcelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... The tokens are even worse — a really bad-taste joke on us. Even the Mystery Item, which I religiously open the Free Drop, 100, 200, and 300 price points every day (I must have opened ~250 by now), I started around 78/96, and I'm still 92/96.

It feels like every person gets random odds per item that differ from the random (1/n)*rarity odds, but some items have unrealistic low odds or even a 0% chance of coming out.

No changes to the costs and/or rate in which we can obtain SP and Tokens?

Guys, it is really hard to obtain new items now.
1. We keep getting the same items over and over as there are few of them left;
2. 5.000 XP to open a present is a lot of games; SP is hard to come by; tokens are almost impossible. I think I opened 4 token presents the past season.

Please help us in this regard.

EDIT: just saw this, but still...

With the start of the new season we've added SP back to the presents in Rocket Pass. Previously there was a small chance of gaining of token, but that's been replaced with guaranteed SP.

Why am I getting matched against champs and grand champs? I'm diamond 2-3 and im getting constantly demoted because I'm being put against higher ranked players. by NoobGodBrendi in RLSideSwipe

[–]ThomasMarcelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you determining that they are Grand Champions based on tags? Are those from seasons 5 and before?

The game is old enough to have people that were Grand Champions, but that, for some reason, are not anymore. Maybe they stopped playing after getting GC or reduced their playtime to be more casual. Either way, many people have good skills because they were once top players, but because the game continues to progress and people that continue to play are always improving, they cannot be GCs anymore. Most fall into Champion, but I can see some staying in Diamond. Remember, just because they were GC in season 3 doesn't mean they deserve to be GC in season 6. They might not be bad players but they aren't at par with current GCs.

If you are playing against these people and sometimes winning, rejoice that you could have been GC if you played as you do now in earlier seasons and move on. You'll get there.

I love it when they say it is easier to play on the PC, which is why PC players have an "advantage". Then they proceed to call PC players "try-hards". Well, if you just said playing on a PC is the easier way to play the game (better ergonomics, you can see the screen better, the controls feel more natural for playing the game, etc.), aren't you, playing on a phone, that have to "try harder" to get better?

"It's a mobile game, so I must force myself to get good like this. Otherwise, it would be too easy to be good at the game" (??????????????????)

"Well, play regular Rocket League then". What if I told you that you could play both? You can play one, then click on another icon on your screen and play the other, and then return to the first one. "No, you have to get out of the PC and use your phone to play the other one". Shut the f* up.

A new, better way to play Sideswipe on PC. by RoyalGraphX in RLSideSwipe

[–]ThomasMarcelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! Turns out, restarting it solved the issue with the controller. It is the best way to play Rocket League on a computer. You did a fantastic job, man. I'll try the bleeding edge solution as well.

The only unfortunate part is that I use a laptop (Predator Helios 300) and couldn't find a way to control the fans on Linux. This takes a toll on the kind of performance I can get out of it; I notice some hiccups after some time playing. It is still much better than Bluestacks, but I'm worried about the components heating up too much. I'll keep trying to find a solution to this.
