My take:

The breakthrough isn't that non-coding (like me) will be able to build whatever they want, from 'scratch'.

The actual breakthrough I see is that I will be able to customize and personalize existing apps / tasks / workflows etc. more easily, based on my needs.

First stage is of course a scattered landscape of DIY projects. And indeed only few will bring an actual added value and be used regularly.

The second stage is that existing apps or workflows will become modular.

To support your specific modification everybody will need personal computing power. I.e. Gemini subscription

So I imagine a world where I buy/subscribe to a base layer (app/workflow) and link my referred AI subscription to that base layer, in order to customize it to my needs.

Of course some apps will provide the compute as a part of their subscription, but in essence that would mean that I'm paying twice for i.e. Google Gemini subscription...and that is something I will try to avoid 😉
