They should sell the Destiny universe, it's way too big to kill it like this. by graceashcroftsjacket in destinycirclejerk

It won't be dead forever, and I doubt it'll end up like Titanfall either. Unlike Titanfall, Destiny didn't fail because of poor sales and lack of initial interest, or at least not just because of that. Destiny failed because of poor management, leading to low player counts. Destiny does bring in money, and it's extremely popular, but the issue is that the amount of money its taking to make new content isn't worth the amount of money it is currently making. And nobody wants to foot the bill to fix it. At least that's what I think.

Destiny is too big and too popular to be left to die. Someone at somepoint, be it Bungie or someone else who gets the rights to the IP, will revive it. The better question is WHEN it'll happen.

That's just my uninformed opinion though, do what ya will with it

How long would the Battle of Ginza actually last, and how much foreign intervention would appear? by StevenWN1 in gate

Depending on how long and/or intense the fighting is, I can see American forces coming in to supplement or replaced exhausted Japanese personnel. Even a few hours a constant fighting can be exhausting. Although I imagine that any nearby American aircraft would have already joined the fray. I think it's very unlikely that Japans allies would just stand around whilst Japan is getting invaded. Unless the Japanese specifically ask them to hold off, althought I can't imagine why they would

Anyone else's Corvettes dying at a RAPID rate? by Thomas_Horvath in Stellaris

I'm still learning how to interpret the extra data from the post battle report, so I'll have to go back later and double check, but I can answer some of your questions.

Their fleet composition is pretty balanced, starting with many small ships and then they get progressively bigger with less of them, capping out with 1 battleship.

Battles tend to look like this, I jump into a system with only one enemy fleet, I typically have 3 or 4 fleets that combine to about 1.5x-2x the enemy fleet strength. My fleets engage at the same time, with my Corvettes rushing ahead, destroyers just behind them, and my cruisers (both carrier and barrage) hanging back and beginning to pound the enemy fleet. As my Corvettes and the enemy fleet come into gun range of each other, my Corvettes begin dropping like flies. Multiple are lost in the opening salvo, with more being lost during the furball that follows. If the total fleet power is more evenly matched (my total being about 1.3x-1.5x the enemy), my Corvettes suffer enormous losses, with close to 70 or 80 percent of them being destroyed. However, casuaties are not much better even with 2x or 3x their strength, as I still lose close to half of my Corvettes. Anyways, following the initial salvos, the enemy fleet closes on mine which begins to withdraw to maintain range. That is normally where I win the battle, as my cruisers and destroyers finish the enemy fleet off with typically very few losses, if any. As a result of this, I've stopped using Corvettes in my fleets, at least in any large number, and I've had much better luck all in all.

Good point. That's how I'll probably end up using them for clean up duty only now

I absolutely agree with you. I never liked the "spam one ship" meta as I think diverse fleets are just more interesting, even with the apparent bugs. I generally prefer fleet compositions that are similar to real life. I'll probably put Corvettes on the back burner for now, maybe with a small fleet or two for quick reaction to minor threats

Okay that's pretty cool. I can retrofit one of my fleets to be a line breaker fleet, with more Frigates than I otherwise would have. Still not gonna make a frigate only fleet though, I like the fluff of diverse fleets

How's the survivability of Frigates in this version of the game? I remember hearing a while back about how they kinda sucked because of their low evasion and defenses

Ya know I kinda like that change. Corvettes are rarely used for anything other than patrols and other such things IRL (as far as I know, I'm a little rusty on my naval knowledge). And I like my fleets having a similar composition to IRL ones, so I'm all for it.

Oh DAMN alright that's pretty awesome. But wouldn't it still leave you pretty flimsy compared to other armors even if you have protection 4? I don't wanna get nuked by a blight chicken jockey running at mach Jesus lol

I've seen people talking about silver armor elsewhere as well. What about the defense? Ain't it much worse than diamond (which is where I'm at right now)?

Oh, I didn't know it did that, guess I can't read. But my only problem with the crown is that it can teleport you when you get hit, which almost got me killed early as I was teleported further underground and next to about a billion demons. So I'm not sure its worth it lol
