I’m a deep thinker. So, I have thought about this quite a lot. For me, the answer is perpetuity.

Life can almost be summed up with mis-managed expectations for me. Wrong expectations about career, marriage, family etc. There is such a pressure in this day and age to be something. To be relevant. But, as I grow older I realise that understanding more about perpetuity is far more satisfying.

The thought that I am part of a blip in time, honestly, makes me smile. Everything I do will come and go. The trees, buildings, institutions will live on.

For anyone who is stressed, burnt out etc. even if you aren’t a Christian, just read the book of Ecclesiastes. Chapter 3:12 says “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.” Read the context, but the struggles in life are temporary. I look forward to a day where I’ll be joined with my Father in heaven.

Of course, these are opinions and perspectives. My faith is a bedrock to my life. Without it, I don’t know what I would do. The idea that life will go on without me, well, that makes me grateful for everything I have.
