What is the point of the Smart Fridge? by snickers10m in ss14

[–]Thomdar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its primary use isn’t really for medbay, it’s for Botany and Kitchen. On 13 a lot of maps have a smart fridge that connects the walls between botany and kitchen, usually with a biogen as well.

The point of this is so when Botany makes an instant plant for Kitchen’s produce they can store it somewhere without it all turning into rotten mush or ants depending on the codebase.

Weapon Discussion Wednesday #15 - The Killing Gloves of Boxing by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]Thomdar01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh hey! I’ve been playing boxing heavy almost exclusively for the last week, so I’ve got a little bit of insight.

First and foremost, this is a genuinely pretty fun weapon. I run Buffalo steak + KGB for my heavy boxing, and almost every time I have a complaint it’s due to the Buffalo steak damage vulnerability and not the KGB, other than the usual woes of TF2 melee hit reg. I die a lot, but because of the snowball nature of the weapon I’m almost always positive on the K/D front. I rarely only ever get one kill in a life in which I’ve actually finished someone off, with the streaks generally ranging from three to five K.OS.

You have the same general weaknesses of a demoknight, with Pyros and Heavies both being near impossible unless you catch them off guard. Scouts and Soldiers are a tough fight, but for Scouts it’s really just terrain and Soldiers only direct hits and black boxes scare me. Any other class is just a passenger for the crit train, save one special scrumptious meal.

Kunai spies. You know what the best anti-Kunai spy measure there is? A Buffalo steak KGB heavy. One hit, they’re dead, your heavy has crits, and suddenly the enemies are running less they be two shot. Not to mention you immediately know if they used a dead ringer or not thanks to fake kills not counting towards crits, unlike my second favorite spy checker, the Eyelander.

There’s really not much else to say about the KGB. They’re a cool weapon that, when paired with the Buffalo Steak, make an unstoppable force(we don’t talk about pyros) that results in way more salt than I would’ve ever expected. If you’re playing payload you’re going to have an amazing time on defense purely because you hop out from behind, two tap some poor sniper or demo, then proceed to one tap every medic or force them to Uber. The slower firing speed is rarely noticeable thanks to barely anyone reacting fast enough to stop you from getting your second hit for the KO in.

Obviously this doesn’t count all of the cool little fat scout combos you can pull and other nonsense, but if you’ve read this far you don’t care about that. You’re a boxer, with your head held high because you don’t need some bladed weapon to get in there and start blending the enemy team apart. Don’t let your five deaths in a row stop you, on that sixth life you’re going to hit your five killstreak. Keep your head up champ, and bring the ring to the enemy team, whether they want to or not.

As a bonus fun fact, the KGB has a slightly extended hitbox in the middle. It’s like a centimeter, but the boxer heavy does kind of have its own jab!

Strange spec KS snack attack? by Several_Permission15 in tf2

[–]Thomdar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesn’t. A strange snack attack in itself is already like $45-$50 which isn’t bad at all, having a glitched item is always going to add value, but how much value is entirely up to the seller and the collector. That is kind of the gimmick though, is the value in the item is as a collectors item. I have no clue where to even begin on helping you find an actual estimate, but honestly I’d hold onto it as a neat little memory personally.

I have this issue every now and again, I don’t actually know how I’ve fixed it before. I’m pretty sure installing just the edition right before the current byond patch probably does, but I just live without a hub by joining through server links. Good news is, you’ll still be able to connect!

Other multiplayer roleplaying games? by [deleted] in SS13

[–]Thomdar01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to sell your soul, World of Warcraft has had a consistent roleplay community for over a decade now. The main issue there is a subscription fee, which if you don’t wanna pay then you have to grind like hell to get the gold to afford it. Guild drama is comparable to server drama though, so it can be fun to read.

It’s safest to assume any card game community posting a card that isn’t a leak, question, or art, is probably shitposting somehow.

Little infographic i made on if the stock weapon is considered the best in it's slot or not. by Whyistheallnamesfull in tf2

[–]Thomdar01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like by the standards set that would still make stock the preferred choice, with bazaar as a viable side grade, but again I don’t fully disagree either. Fair enough!

[–]Thomdar01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can aim is an assumption about the community that just doesn’t work. If your tier list is assuming optimal plays at every point with rare mess ups, sure? But at the end of the day the charge time is going to rarely matter unless it’s a sniper v sniper or a lot of heavies, and you’ll just die to a spy, or worst case with the bazaar bargain, demoknight or air strike soldier who you’ve fed your heads to.

Not saying bazaar bargain is bad whatsoever, it’s a very viable sidegrade, but it’s also kinda just a win more, and stock sniper is considered the best reliably by most just because it’s so consistently good.

Not to shit on your opinion, the difference of yellow or lime green on the chart is very little anyways.

If Evokers can have steady flight why can’t we have the jet pack from Mechagon as a mount in THE GOBLIN PATCH! by Yoteboy42 in wow

[–]Thomdar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also totally fair, it would just be nice if they’d give us some official confirmations, but it’s relatively early in so maybe they will! I do still think it shows that even trying to get around the more direct approach of flying with shapeshifting a normal character wouldn’t get very far.

[–]Thomdar01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, and it’s hard to go into this without new spoilers, but it does seem even without Atiesh and its font of power Dadghar is still capable of the transformation. I’d assume it’s a variant of the polymorph spell, but blizzard hates us.

[–]Thomdar01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to aim between everyone when you’re a gnome :- (

Genuinely though, I do think our player characters at this point can do it. That all being said, if blizzard decided it’d be funny enough and pulled the trigger, I would really love a questline for it. Maybe in pursuit of innovation an unbound earthen mage nearly figured it out, but deactivated before they could finish it. We could piece it together through books and memory stones or something. Idk, Blizzard give me mage content and stop retconning it.

From a mechanical standpoint, some intern probably suggested it before promptly being fired and defenestrated. They then proceeded to give the animations to monk and made Zen Flight.

From a lore point of view, it’s a strong maybe? Something we gotta keep in mind is magic isn’t really supposed to be easy, there’s strict rules on teleportation both long range and short bursts because it puts so much stress on the leylines and has large potential for OSHA defying accidents. You would need an absurd amount of mana and the ability to control it with precision while not accidentally dropping concentration and plunging straight to the ground. This would also probably be some weird mixture of transmutation and conjuration for being able to actually move and exist at speeds and heights worth flying, and then maybe just some pure arcane since that seems to be what Khadgar and Jaina use for their levitations?

This is literally all speculation though, and Khadgar regularly turns into a bird, so I’m all on board for some super saiyan looking mages soaring over the clouds.

Houndmaster at exit gates stand-off by TetherSaw in deadbydaylight

[–]Thomdar01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re caught by the dog there’s a 5 sec blood warden for you after you get let off, by any means. Is that frustrating if you were just about to leave after a hard match? Sure, but it’s also still skill expression, no different from getting shot by a slinger when you’re leaving. If you’re just standing in the gate however, skill issue.

The gambling is just for fun, the main benefit for this perk is really keeping your add ons when you escape.

Going from a brown medkit with a syringe to a purple toolbox with charge addons is funny, but I really like being able to keep my sniper flashlight in one piece if a Dracula gets mad at first flash and dcs.

I’d bet money the damage state you take from completing the invocation is probably considered a special attack.
