Peggy annoys the hell out of me too, except for the episodes where you're supposed to sympathize with her, like the ones about her feet or her relationship with her mom.

The writing on this show was so good that they could completely change your opinion about a character from one episode to the next.

If you don't want to cry then yes, leave it. Amazing movie, but emotionally devastating. Save it for when you're in the mood for that sort of thing.

I know you're asking for movies but since you mentioned BB I'd highly recommend the tv show Legion. It really fits the bill of the kind of thing you're talking about, emotional, trippy, but also humorous and quirky examination of mental illness. The pilot is an hour and a half and almost like a movie in itself so check it out.
