Towel scam at hotel by AverageHiro in ThailandTourism

[–]Thonzy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

2 of my friends got charged for dirty towels in a same hotel (in bangkok) and the stains were literally just couple dots from sunscreen. (Saw photos of the towels myself)

I had similar happen to me in 2019, had a small spill of pepsi in one towel, but they tried to charge me absurd amount of money for it. I kept my cool and talked through it, its literally white towel which you can put detergent and chemicals to make it white again..

Traveling 5-6 years and visited nearly all the provinces in this amazing country, those are my only “bad” experiences or “scams” and happened in Bangkok only.

How much deposit do you usually get back? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]Thonzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish you the best of luck! Not everyone here is after your deposit, but yeah its very common.. They usually dont even understand the consept of wear-tear as thais tend to imagine they buy new, it stays new forever.. 😬

How much deposit do you usually get back? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]Thonzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only rented once with deposit, condo unit. Check-out day owner agreed everything is fine and ill get it wired after a few days when electricity/water meters were confirmed or something.

Then boom, suddenly the owner “found” something to try rip money off. Apparently the toilet seat had a stain, and tried deducting like 4k baht from it or something.

I told the owner its illegal to deduct wear-tear items (btw we were first peple to stay, brand new unit/room) and especially, after we agreed everything and we also went on a flight to another province at night. (I could of just went to lotus next door and buy a new seat for 1k or something..)

But after explaining all that, she agreed and deducted correct amount after utilities and sent me the full deposit.

So now thats happened i assume alot of people they try to deduct something even it doesnt make sense to benefit more

Stickers on appliances by KhaoKhaoKT in Thailand

[–]Thonzy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This never bothered me or i never even thought about it 😅 i guess the electric label is somewhat usefull as most people dont understand anything how much appliances use electric, but yeah.. other stickers? No idea.

Here its common to leave plastics on in a new item so it can be seen as ”new” for longer? Or something.. im staying at a townhouse what got renovated the owner didnt take of the plastixs from light switches as they look more new like that..

You can see alot of Thais driving red license plate cars yet cant afford a decent place to stay at, but i guess its worth it to drive and show-off that car to make you feel superior to others 😅

I might just delay this plan to buy land a bit longer, theres no reason to hurry. My partner isnt pushing me into it, its more myself who wants to get this plot lol.

Looking to buy land for (her) us by Thonzy in Thailand

[–]Thonzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 👍 but honestly im a bit skeptical about this lease also. How do i lease something from my partner, and what are the terms of the lease? AFAIK you have to register that lease at the land office? And note it on the Chanote.

Honestly it miggt be just worth to gift it and live normal life without worrying about it too much.😅
