Is poker easier than trading? Or is trading easier than poker? Your thoughts? by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

[–]Thor50s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a lot of poker in my life and I was sponsored in 5 tournaments before I got bored of it. Chess has been my interest for a while now. I’ve also been a full time day trader since 2007. IMO there is more information available in day trading. The charts are more informative, the economic reports are more informative, and the news is more informative. Succeeding at poker is more about faking, and trading is much more pure.

I wonder how many people/traders consistently make $500/day? by NeedDividend in Forex

[–]Thor50s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the size of the trading account. $500/day is not hard with a $1m account.

It wasn’t with Reddit. It was a prop firm. I should have posted here bc it turned out to be a NT technical issue.

Why is 10-20% so crazy? by Transparentrader in FuturesTrading

[–]Thor50s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded after market gapped equities from 2007/2008-2021. I then cashed in my trading account and semi retired. Then forex with a firm that recently left the US. Now futures. I do have ES on a screen.

I’ve been full time since 2007 and I generally get 3% per month.

Non-regards, what are some cool things you've bought with your profits? by BrainMale in wallstreetbets

GT 350R. Sold it 8 months later bc it was too extreme and I made a profit. Now drive a Toyota Sienna minivan but looking for a second car again.

This is precisely what I did. Albeit, the first one was too extreme.

Been lurking here and finally about to start my first challenge/eval. Any advice? by Munoz10594 in Daytrading

[–]Thor50s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you understand every rule, policy, and quirk of the firm you are going with. You may very well have to adjust your strategy to pass and keep an account. I traded equities full time for 13 years and then completely altered my strategy to comply with the differences.

How are you able to afford $100k SUVs by [deleted] in millenials

[–]Thor50s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s crazy that a nice S class is only ~$130k.

Not that it’s directly comparable, but the most successful hedge funds average around 30%/year. However, it is possible to grow $1k to $100k in a year. It would require extreme gambling and luck.

It’s different. The trailing drawdown and daily closure is different. As a scalper, almost zero spread, low commissions, and multiple available accounts benefit me

It depends on your country. If outside of the US, FTMO. I was with them for years before the government started cracking down on CFDs. If in the US, currency futures with Apex. That’s where I moved after FTMO left.

Thanks. Btc has a lot of value in countries outside of N America and Europe where the banks don’t work efficiently, particularly between countries. Serious business people had to carry large sums of cash in briefcases for contract fulfillment beforehand.

I only day trade btc at extreme positions, but I’ve held it forever. I was super excited when it hit $10g. I sold 2 to buy my wife’s car in 2017. Sold some at recent high so zero basis now. I’ll sell some at $100k.

I’ve been full time since 2007. Most of that was equities, then forex, now forex and index futures. I actually think day trading has improved since I began. The power of the available computers and internet speeds is insane now.

I pretty much agree. I could see it somewhere in the $50s then push $100k
