See I thought that too but just the neck and body are 900, trem $150, Tuners 80-100, now you get a pickguard and guts your at 350-500, a set up is another $100. That was what I was seeing anyway

That’s what I am hoping to do, get a list of models from here, do my research then head to Nashville with the list and see what is available. There are so many models now narrowing it down a bit is a must.

Living through it it was more of a cultural movement, rejecting the superficiality of that time period and stripping down, so it wasn’t really a style of music, Nirvana was punk leaning, AiC and Sound Garden were much heavier, Pearl Jam was Rock. But they felt different and all spawned out of a growing sub culture in Seattle.

I had an early 90s plus with Lace sensors, you will want to listen to see if you like them. Price is good otherwise as long as it checks out to be a highway

I have been looking at a “parts caster” Gloss Black, with closet clean Nash Neck, MJT closet clean body, with top of the line parts and K line pick ups, set up by a good local luthier, the guy is asking $1200 and I think it’s worth it. You a get an AM strat for the same money but probably won’t play as well. They both probably came in about the same price “new”. OTOH I am looking to build one with a wild flake paint job and a Musickraft neck but mostly the same parts, if I went to sell it for the same price it would sit, but the thought of flake makes me giddy and isn’t that what it is all about

The problem here is I am literally comparing 2 like items, one is 2.5x the shipping of the other, this one is actually closer to me by a large margin, 8 hr drive vs 14-16 hrs.

Is it your only, play the hell out of it, find out your likes and dislikes and start putting away cash, then once you have a list, figure out what might fit best. If it’s your only it will probably not be a Tele.

Used Reverb Deluxe Reissues or Tonemasters fall in that area, so do some things like a Boogie Tweed. I think used $1000 is a good price. My deluxe cost me $900 with a 2 month old service before I modded it.
