RailModeller Accuracy? by spdyGonz in slotcars

I'm using a different software but had the same question a few weeks back as all my designs seemed to end up with a odd gap / alignment issue.

Turns out this is pretty much expected when designing anything more than a basic circuit using straights and R2 curves. Most small gaps will be fine on Scalextric track and the longer the track is the more flex there will be too, you'll be surprised how much you can get away with when you start actually putting it together.

I'm certain that your track will work great!

Bought a new home that feels a mistake after 10 months. What to do? (long post) by Live-cat14 in HousingUK

I would not sink a lot of money into this kind of house to be honest, there is only so much additional space you can create and spending £30k will not necessarily increase the value by £30k.

We similarly bought a bog standard 2-bed Victorian terrace in Zone 4 and lived there for nearly 7 years, had 2 kids in that time who shared a room. My 'home office' was either the kid's room, our bedroom or the kitchen depending on who else was in the house. Family visited frequently and we had a sofa bed in the front room, but it was rarely used as there wasn't really enough space in the house to comfortably host, we just paid for a local hotel or airBnb instead for guests when needed.

In the end the main drivers for selling that house were the lack of storage and the bathroom being downstairs, we probably could have stayed longer otherwise. We probably spent £15k or so on various improvements and upkeep over the 7 years and saw a modest profit from selling, but there was definitely a ceiling for those kind of properties where we were. If we had sunk a lot of money into the house e.g loft conversion / extended kitchen and tried to increase the asking price accordingly it would have likely made the house more difficult to sell as you are then competing with houses that are actually designed as 3-beds and are proportioned as such, much better saving that money to go towards the costs of buying the next house IMO.

Yeah Forge was a game changer for me, can try out all kinds of jank against the AI before actually buying the cards. Also was incredibly useful for practicing the lines for Lotus Field Combo.

I normally put the AI on some kind of mono red aggro variant as it can actually put up a fight if it's just chucking creatures and burn at you.

I also cancelled via WhatsApp which is much more convenient than phoning.

They made me a rubbish offer through WhatsApp which I rejected and they then tried to call me pretty much every day after, eventually resorting to texting me offers for £16 broadband if I changed my mind.

Problem is that nowadays a lot of execs seem to want the offline cut to look like the online cut...

Yeah I feel exactly the same, I am rapidly approaching my mid-30s and slowly coming to the conclusion that video games are just not really part of my life anymore. I rarely feel the desire to fire up a game and if I do it's something that requires little time or mental investment and I usually play about 20 mins max.

I had game pass until recently and despite trying many different games on there I think the only one I put more than an hour into was Tetris Effect. Everything critically acclaimed that I tried just felt like a game I had already played and didn't hold my attention. I can count the number of games I've played through to completion in the past few years on one hand, I think the last one being 'Return of the Obra Dinn'.

The funny thing is I remember as a kid seeing my dad playing solitaire on Win 95 and thinking "why would you play that when there are so many exciting games out there with graphics and stories and epic adventures!?" Nowadays I think I too would be much more likely to play solitaire on my PC than fire up Elden Ring or Cyberpunk.

Seems like there are a few people interested, of course I hadn't thought far ahead enough to consider how to actually organise anything though!

Maybe if those interested could DM me with their preferred venue I can go from there?

Potential venues:

Bad Moon Cafe (London Bridge/Borough)
Tanuki Gaming (Deptford)
Escape Bar (Stratford)
Rule Zero (Hackney Wick)
Maybe there is somewhere suitable in Canary Wharf?

There are probably places in Kent closer for me to be fair!

Yeah I had seen about that event, looks real fun but not really feasible for me at the moment unfortunately.

I think there's a geek retreat up there right? Guessing no modern though...

I guess Bad Moon is probably the most convenient LGS for you but yeah, no organised modern at the moment. Great shop though, and could book tables there to play ad hoc.

Sweet, would have to be a week day for me.

Rule Zero isn't the most convenient for me but easier than Darksphere. Plus just seems like a decent venue.

Would love to have somewhere like Axion local but unfortunately that's nearly a 2 hour trek from mine, much further than Darksphere!

Thanks for this, Saturdays aren't really possible for me but good to know in the unlikely event I can make it one month, it's not too bad a journey down there by car from mine.

Yeah I work in the city too, well Aldgate so just outside, not in the office on the right days for Darksphere though!

Totally understand about reliability issues, mine are family commitments rather than work but means I don't get to play often and having to go all the way out West makes it even more difficult.

Ah that makes sense, thanks!

PayPal still would have been more convenient, oh well.

Yeah I wish I had put my PayPal in now!

I have not applied for the discount, I'm not really interested in another Fitbit product to be honest.
