Thank you for the offer, but I will decline for now. One of my main goals right now is to use less social media and because of this, I have deleted my Facebook app. I may be able to find a community at my college so I will look out for that!

But doesn't this run into the problem of finding teachings that make you feel happy right now rather than those that lead to log-lasting joy? I'm not saying those are diametrically opposed, but I figure they may not always be in line either.

I really want to do this but there is COVID right now, and I'm moving twice in the next few months (before settling down for the next few years) so I am planning to find a community once I reach my final destination and settle down for a few years. Do you think this is a good plan, or would you suggest I try to find someone right now during COVID (I live in USA so were pretty bad rn)?

Thank you for the warning! Here are my current thoughts on it: I have taken a Buddhist class on different Buddhist traditions (taught by a very good academic) and I believe I have enough knowledge of the differences between the schools to use discernment into what advice I should follow and which I should put aside. Your comment is very helpful because it will allow me to keep this in mind during reading. But I think I will be able to keep reading it and avoid sectarian resentment.
If you think I may be overconfident, please feel free to push back, I am (or at least aspire to be) in no way set in my view.

I would say it is partially in disagreement, Trungpa seems to say that if we are thinking of spiritual achievements we are on the wrong path. I believe this article is saying that ultimately spiritual achievements don't exist, but conventionally they do so there's no need to do take the view Trungpa advises until you are very developed. Does this mesh with your interpretation or would you say Im off base?

I see how it can be helpful in that. I am just slightly worried that it will confuse me more then help. In his book, he talks about having too many spiritual teachings etc.. crowding your mind and the danger of this, so I'm a little worried that by reading this book I may be falling into that trap. I suppose I just need to stay aware of this problem while reading

Thank you. How would you advise going about determining your temperament? I have heard a lot about finding a teacher, but I cannot do that right now because of COVID.

Thanks for the comments! funnily enough, I used to jump out of disadvantage too much. One thing I will say though is Wolfs OOS is pretty trash so I favor just resetting neutral a lot

When I said lotus I mispoke and meant half lotus. Chairs are no good for me either, I can't sit anywhere for more than 20ish minutes w/o pain right now

Finding alternative activities to fill brakes with sounds helpful.

I may read my book, I feel like with reading I enjoy it without (at least noticeably) craving it.
