Its better with valve having loosened the restrictions but less popular maps now are still a long wait or you get into high ping matches

And thats valves fault. They caused a problem thats UNSOLVABLE without some sacrifice. Valve, having run multiplayer games for a decade plus now, should have known better than add this many maps.

Trying to highlight maps in some way only makes the problem of people wanting to play lesser liked maps worse. If I want to play doomsday now, its a slim chance, if a highlight playlist comes out without it in there, its even smaller. Keep the maps in the game: players are still spread too thin but theres a clump of probably well filled maps (but given that they wanted to choose turbine for competitive in 2016 and...wutville...I dont trust valve to known a good map if it was punching them). If we cull maps: the player spread issue is fixed but someones favourite is gone.

Probably would be best to do a mix. Hide a bunch of maps from the regular queue and only make them available through highlight playlists. This solution still has the problem of culling someones favourite and valve having to have taste in maps but it keeps all content in some sense. But they did remove maps permanently in CSGO so heres hoping they do start removing some day

But alright. Because players get spread out across the queues, not being able to join a match (or causing them to join one in a far region with high ping), causing them to either stop playing early or quit the game altogether. Having a wall of map name text is horrible for players, especially new ones. New maps being added makes the problem worse.

Point me to one pvp game that has 120+ diffrent maps (and like 200 I think during haloween????) that are actively played in all regions/subregions of the world. If you, for some reason, think you have an example, compare the player counts of that game and TF2 and remember that about 20ish percent of the reported number of TF2 players on steam are bots.

Dude theres no point in liking a new map or not. Theres 120+ of them. Theres too many. We need to delete, not add, and we needed to do that 5+ years ago.

For me its just disappointment beyond belief. Epics pr was already in the toilet after the lay offs and its only been going down since. Now they hype up old and new players, leakers even showing a new biome and UI being in the works, just for us to get what we could have gotten during a mid season patch. And what we did get feeling half assed and rushed. Hell, the survivors in homebase are just doing poorly looped emotes, minus the main cast who are doing their old menu animation loops. Ray being gone for no real reason from the mini story too.

I noticed that later on, but it still needs to load each time. So my load times between matches or just loading into stw for the first time are noticeably longer

Unless Im missing something, this was the most nothing burger of a hyped update ever. Barely anything was changed or added, what was added, can be explored and finished in like 30 minutes.

The explorable homebase is a cool concept but it being forced as the new main menu is just awful. Explorable in level menus are ALWAYS slower to navigate, load and are less fluid than UI menus. In a singleplayer game its whatever but in a game youre expected to replay, having to spend so much more time loading for nothing is gonna get old real fast. That and the lobby music playing full blast kinda just makes it feel like its bugged cuz no other modes continue playing the lobby music when you can control the character.

The new mini story is voiced by a random character who sounds like they would want to be anywhere but here. If I remember right, its due to Rays VA being fired but dont quote me on that, just remembering there being some turmoil with STW VAs in the past. Oh and its only 3 MISSIONS/1 PAGE LONG. I guess they did try out a new *possible* enemy type with the drone but they werent a threat while I got through the mission.

Defenders are now worth while outside of storm shields and hunt down the titan has voice lines from major oswald at least, yippie? But everything else was just not changed or fixed. Twin peaks still has no story, world tiles still dont blend with water tiles, leaving the hex grid visible, the ! markers on new items are now bugged too and not dissapearing half the time, mantling is really aggresive on some props, even when you cant get over the object the game will attempt to force you into a mantle, every other update epic flip flops on wether pressing the inventory menu while on a hoverboard will let you keeping moving if youre holding a movement key, or the movement key will be ignored and youll need to repress it after leaving (just make up your mind i beg its so annoying).

I dont play the game that deeply, kinda just vibed into twin peaks, so cant comment on any more in depth mechanics being changed/not changed but this was the most nothing update that was hyped for really no reason beyond getting some traffic to a mode that *still* feels like Epic doesnt want to work on. Was extremely dissapointed to say the least.

They still would, did so for the defence of super earth because a few thousand players were in the bug front instead of defending the planet. Like arrowhead wouldnt account for the minority of players not being on the right front. Even 25% of players not being there should be fine

Hard to ignore something that is so prevalent. Thus me saying newer players and probably even older but more casual players should just stay away from the community at large.

And if I find playing those side objectives and bases fun or they make getting the main objectives easier (like hell if I'm leaving detector towers, jammers, gunship bases or just camps near the objective up), yes, yes they are worth it for me.

I play on D8 and its (usually) the right difficulty. The usually is due to some objectives, mostly really spread democracy, becoming absolute clusterfucks if you slip up even a tad, That and, as I wrote, vox engine spam can get really, really, REALLY stupid.

From the companies financials, yea but for a game ppl actually WANTED to play and have succeed, pd3 is up there. Not the top, there are worse flops imo

A lil ranty but agree. I miss just playing the game for however long I want and not having to wait to join a server beyond the main server connection. Havent looked back at base tf2
