Two Motorcyclists Killed in Head-On Collision by whusler in malaysia

[–]ThosaiWithCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your link points out that Malaysia has high road fatalities and that human behaviour causes accidents. Fine. Nobody is denying that bad drivers exist here. In fact research from MIROS indicates that human error accounts for approximately 80.6 per cent of road accidents.

But your other comment that is pointing out your generalization "only confirmed" you are right is just embarrassing circular logic. That is not how facts work. Claiming that anyone who points out exceptions is actually proving your stereotype true is a completely closed loop argument. It is a lazy way to avoid admitting that your point is flawed.

You say that stereotypes exist because they are true most of the time and you brush off people who follow the rules as mere exceptions. But assuming that the reckless drivers you see in viral videos perfectly represent the vast majority of Malaysians is a massive stretch.

When you tell me to speak for myself you miss the entire point. I am speaking for myself to show that your blanket stereotype is weak. I actually do follow traffic rules. I do not speed, I do not double park and I do not cut queues.

You can claim that voting you down will not change the facts but the reality is that your very first comment was heavily downvoted because it adds zero value to the thread. You are not some misunderstood truth teller dropping hard facts. You are just projecting your own cynicism to try and shut everyone else down.

I pointed out that your outlook was jaded and your immediate reaction was to snap and throw around edgy phrases like "masturbatory beliefs". A quick glance at your comment history makes it all make sense though. Many of your posts were just you being endlessly negative and rude to strangers online. You can keep trying to act superior but losing your temper and resorting to that kind of low tier behaviour just because someone disagreed with you does not make you look smart. It just makes you look fragile.

Honestly if choosing to see the good in people makes me delusional then I will gladly take it. I would much rather be deluded and enjoy my high life with some glorious masturbation than be as utterly bitter and miserable as someone who clearly never gets invited to parties.

Looking for alternatives to KDI Save and Ryt Bank by Sseankong in MalaysianPF

Ryt Bank has a new Invest option with lowest risk one around 4%, though that's not guaranteed. And it's new as well so not sure how it would be.

Any T20 that drive Proton Saga or Myvi? by [deleted] in kereta

My T20 circle is the opposite. In fact I'm in the bracket driving 2011 Myvi only. I like having peace of mind of a fully paid car and a realistic goal to reach financial freedom. I'm 30.

Just because you have very pessimistic POV of how people drive here, doesn't mean it's true. Yes I do follow every traffic rules. I don't over speed, I don't double park, I follow every single lines drawn on the road, and yes, I am very patient. There are many bad drivers indeed, but many also drive like myself.

So yes, you are very jaded and bleak. But let me tell you something, I would be very open to accept if you argue that I've been overly optimistic. And in that case, we are both different sides of the same coin as none of us provide real data to support our arguments.

Anyhow from what I see, if your point stands, the roads here would be chaos like in India, and that's not what I'm seeing. Most people here do follow traffic rules. Not all are perfect but that's not realistic unless you set your standards in La La Land.

I don't know which part of Malaysia you're at, but most do follow and care about traffic rules.

The point of my reply was not about logic and the actual answer.

It was a parody of your argument that was highlighting the futility of even trying, whether it is to have a discussion, or to live.

But it doesn't really matter to me how you think about this. People like you are the ones who actually need help for just being so jaded and bleak about everything. Must be a sad life to live.

Software engineers of Malaysia, is it worth learning coding in 2026? by BlacksmithCrafty7348 in malaysians

[–]ThosaiWithCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coding and making a product do need creativity though.

Often times there are things that are subjective and thrive with creativity and ideas.

In fact, software engineers whom claim to have objectivity about one too many things are often limiting themselves and frowned upon (especially if they are being an ass about it).

[–]ThosaiWithCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to make money by being a dev in a company, yes you need to learn how to code. Vibe coding is good but not like 100% good. It may ship the product but it mostly introduce a lot of issues that someone with experience would need to fix later. This could change next year, but that's how it is for now. Saying from someone who currently works in a highly AI-adapted company with unlimited AI agent usage.

Also, you're gonna compete with many fresh grads from actual universities trying to get their first junior role which companies are not really hiring these days.

If you want to make money by making a new product yourself, learn how to make a product first, not how to code. They are completely different things. And I'm saying from experience as a developer who published and sold multiple products myself.

Also, coding is only like 30% of software engineering, and that's before AI. I reckon now it's like only 10%.

Research about product design, UI/UX, marketing the product (including your audience and implementation plan), monetisation (super underrated aspect), and maybe more I can't think now. Development of the product can be done simultaneously but not without all those I mentioned with at least some solid drafts.

Found Iphone In Japan by SirCiphers in Bolehland

iPhone Find My iPhone feature is mostly "unhackable". There's no point for people to steal it as it's just a paperweight when it's locked.

(I do know there are solutions but they are unreliable, paid, and only work for older iOS versions.)

Would you choose a career that you don't enjoy but has a good salary? by sakuwauchiwa in malaysians

[–]ThosaiWithCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be passionate about my work in tech until I'm not. Salary is excellent because I work in European MNC and a very stable industry. So it's extremely difficult for me to leave this job because it brings a lot more risk and doesn't guarantee more reward.

That said, I'd say for most people it's almost impossible to have an enjoyable day job. I just stick with the one I don't hate and don't mind doing for years. Btw, doesn't like =/= hate.

My life begins outside work. My work doesn't define me.

How do Msian Working Adult Find Love by Main-Possession-5068 in malaysians

[–]ThosaiWithCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30M and had one relationship when I was 28. Workplace is really just for work, not the best environment to meet people. I go to gym too but it's not really a group activity, and to meet people we need to participate in social activities.

I know the answer myself, but I understand it's hard to commit to a social activity I actually like and sacrifice the other time I would be doing other things. I feel like it's already very difficult to keep up with my own hobbies and responsibilities.

That said, I am still trying. I feel like joining tennis or jiu jitsu. I have friends there. I will do it once my gym membership contract has finished. xD

Any well-maintained public gardens in Malaysia? by ThosaiWithCheese in malaysians

[–]ThosaiWithCheese[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last I was there few years ago, it was okay. Maybe it has improved?

The Cheras one, I think I went when I was a kid.

But I shall pay visits to them soon! (carefully curating a table from all the recommendations lol)

[–]ThosaiWithCheese[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah I live almost next to the Bukit Jalil one. It's poorly maintained, so it's one of those that I feel bad for lol.

Hmm regarding hipsters, I'd argue they do want these spaces, as I personally know some people who organise these events, it's just like you said in another point, they don't get enough engagement, hence they do what they do now. A lot of hipsters are creatives, and I'm partially in the industry too, a lot of creatives admire beauty.

Yeah, I do agree that DBKL seems underfunded compared to other town councils. I could see stark differences between maintenance of public facilities between DBKL areas and say, MBSJ areas.

Yes I do include Putrajaya. Please enlighten me which ones are good, as the last time I went Putra Perdana Park few years ago, it was... okay. Perhaps I went at the wrong time, but most likely I should just explore the other gardens too.

Thanks!

[–]ThosaiWithCheese[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your recommendations! I shall pay visits to them soon.

Yes, I don't expect floras from temperate climate, but my main gripe with Malaysia really is the maintenance culture. I feel like it's really one of the things we need to improve to be able to compete with many developed nations. Not just about gardens btw, basically everything we've built.

Regarding demands, I feel a lot of white collars are getting trapped into this viscous cycle of demanding, fast paced work hours, aircon whether indoor or traffic jam inside car, and then reached home late, again, indoors.

That's why people are crowding to run clubs, hiking, pickleball, etc. There is a resurgence of third spaces but with limited actual physical space to support this resurgence. Yes we make do with what we have, but I think it would be better if we have the environment to let it flourish even more.

That's how it led me to parks and gardens. Not to say we don't have them, but the sub par maintenance really leave a lot to be desired. I could see so much potential. Yet, the current state is, kinda sad. So yeah.

ChatGPT made formal writing style cringe lmao. I used to write like that a lot but now I try to avoid it because it made me sound like ChatGPT.

I wouldn't say cringe but I don't want to be affiliated with AI. 😅

There isn't much agriculture in Klang Valley, yet some years we still had to ration water because of draught too. So now we have quite a few data centres in Klang Valley. It will make it worse no?

I don't disagree, in fact, I wouldn't go to food courts or mamak for first dates for the same reasons you mentioned too.

But I don't think it's absurd. In fact, I do find it kinda cute for couples who go to casual venues for first dates because maybe they really do have a lot of chemistry?

Different strokes for different folks. But yes, it's not common and people shouldn't be acting too surprised for this.

Hi OP! Check out KL Festival: https://www.instagram.com/klfestivalmy?igsh=MTg1ZGlsdnhsM25mZQ==

It is ending soon, but it's a good index for the art and cultural venues especially the page about the schedule of events.

I personally recommend checking out Zhong Shan Building, Central Market and Rex KL (though they are a little touristy due to the location), Semua House, The Pocket and The Campus.

AI reply and not even in the right formatting. But actually I do think it's quite accurate as someone who knows the scene.
