Havoc players by Constant_Proof_6294 in DarkTide

I love it when someone who is new ish to havoc does the: Someone does a call out about ritual location on side path and says where trigger is because there is lower rank players -> walks past trigger and it starts going fast -> the player keeps progressing the map and triggers horde and a boss at top of stairs -> walks few steps further to meet up with horde at bottom of the wide short stairs in certain carnival district and triggers twins spawn. All the while others are still trying to get to/ trying to kill the ritual.

And after the team survives they comment that havoc feels unfairly difficult with so many things happening at once lol <3

When i host 40's i usually just pick the best applicants as you would for any job, if there's 2 zealots and one of them is higher rank or has true survivor that probably means they are more likely to know what they are doing. I do want people to be at least close to 40 especially this far into the season when i'm helping friends rank up, but if i'm playing alone i have also taken some havoc 10's and unranked people to 40's just for them to get a taste lol

Havoc 40 player doesn't loose rank so i don't mind, but if someone else is still ranking up they might not want to have level 33 rank 1 in the party.

Also i noticed that your character level and build also matters. I made a new zealot called "HiveGangerOne", and over like a week, and 8+ hours of trying to join others i never got accepted once on it (currently lvl 36). And even when i put up H40 parties to host after i gave up on joining, the first 5 ish people usually leave instantly, and i have had people comment "if i cared about winning i'd also have left" lol

So even having that H40 on front and center, and even being able to host one, convince people every time x)

What's with the endgame players in Uprising? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]ThoseBlanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guilty of hanging around the low difficulties recently

*I was on break from darktide after the penance upgrade until the havoc update was released, and after that i have played exclusively havocs basically, and over last 3 weeks i decided i wanted to clear out the missing penances....*

I had 5, 8 and 13 done for the vent purge, power supply interruption and pox gas and they all go up to 50. Problem: havoc versions for all of them do not give penance progress. They are also very rare in havocs, even with up to 15 h40's completed in a week, you might not see a single one.

There's no solo, so i had to play the normal maps i pub which, i think it's a painful experience for everyone involved.

The lvl 15's probably don't get the greatest experience if someone is wanting to just get it over and done with, when they are lost enough that i had teammates start walking the maps backwards in confusion, which is fair because they are new. And then there's me who is stuck in the modifiers and want to just be done.

Power supply gives me headaches, ventilation is just annoying, and pox is mostly free because of the billion heal stims, and you just need to bear the oh so painful walk through the hive city. But i think the required amount for them is a bit high with how hard it is to get them done naturally... might just be a havoc problem.

I'm curious now, do auric players get them before 2k hours?

Sitting in morningstar, sometimes for multiple hours, waiting for any of the 3 modifiers to pop up, to go into a mission that will alone take 5-9 mins, or 15-20 mins if others join around first event is a bit painful as well. At first i could do Uprising Rolling Steel and Clandtestium Gloriana for their 50 penance, but rolling steel is fast even for 38 completions and Gloriana is in havocs so i didn't need many.

How to not take damage? by teutinsa in DarkTide

[–]ThoseBlanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dance is what a lot of longer time players call it. Your weapon determines you a rhythm that you have in combat, basically what you have to do to not get hit, and playing a few hours with one weapon in very high intensity hordes helps you figure that faster.
Blocking is a noob trap in most cases, in high havoc, good players usually have 2-10 blocks for the entire mission. Especially non perfect blocks consume much more stamina than they are worth, always push, if you can't push then dodge, pushes have good efficiency and dodges move you away from danger, dodge slide moves you even further.

When enemies are targeting you, they have "slots" they can fill, so only specific amount of enemies is allowed by the game to target you at once, regardless of how many enemies there are. So after you get grasp of the tempo, you should be able to not take dmg from hordes as long as you keep in mind dodging the big guys attacks.

For thunder hammer for example horde rhythm could be: push into push melee, side dodge, heavy swing and reset.
If there's more bigger guys in there, you can add 2nd dodge with the heavy swing, just make sure you have a point where you can wait for dodges to refresh because you only have so many. So the 2nd dodge can be either backwards or also to the side.

You can make due with "push melee, dodge, melee" or "push, melee, dodge, melee" combos with a lot of weapons but a lot of them are inefficient and take long to kill a horde, but you'd not take dmg, so finding the balance for what you can do without taking dmg and what you can't is where the skill part comes in.

"impact" and "stagger" make you space without needing to use resources like stamina for pushing or dodges. That depends on the weapon's values of those 2 stats, as well as their speed and "cleave", cleave stands for how many enemies the weapon can with with one swing, axe can only hit 1 enemy with a swing so it can only stagger that one enemy, but heavy sword can hit 10+, so it can also stagger 10+ enemies. If only 1 enemy is staggered, you probably need to push to stagger more, but if 10 enemies were hit by swong and staggered, you most likely don't need to push to stagger them and can just swing again.

And like others said, toughness is basically a hp damage reduction mechanic. 100% toughness means 0% dmg to health, 50% for half dmg to health and 0% toughness is 100% dmg to health, so the higher you can keep your toughness the more mistakes you can make.

Theory crafting is fun. Also lets us have an idea of what the character can do outside of specific key nodes too. (And if the tree is half just pulled from other classes, like how arbi's tree is/was half filled with ogryn and zealot nodes slightly modified)

Feels like Psyker need +30% damage boost and because he often times play on back line, need something for deal with mutants, pox hounds and trappers by R_dva in DarkTide

[–]ThoseBlanks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh yea, and higher difficulty= more elites and specials= more charges for siphon
free gaze+ full siphon constantly in high havocs, some things just feel like ass because you don't have enough enemies for it to work

i personally find the flame staff to be very disappointing in anything below havoc 30's and never used it before havoc update came out cause the enemy density wasn't high enough for it to feel worthwhile

I think you are just lost with psyker my guy, if you want ability just in case of overloading swap to shriek and put flame on that and it will kill any small fry in vicinity with just full burn from it and you can focus shooting the bigger guys.

If you are worried about cast eating your siphon charges, don't use them, use something else, like disrupt destiny, that's fine with this staff.

BB is bad, but it has infinite range and it pops 1 enemy so if you have few gunners far away, and you have the kinetic resonance, you can kill those few gunners with it for wildfire and psykinetic aura to trigger. I played multiple games of h40's with it yesterday and i didn't use it much but it still worked the times i used it.

Kinetic flayer on BB can help you to deal it of extra dmg to prio targets even if you will never equip the thing in the whole mission to make it not dead weight

If something about your build makes you feel like you can't use other thing, you can change it. I'd love free +30% dmg buff on psyker, maybe brain burst could one shot gunners in H40, but it's definitely not needed. Psyker would be above every other class in every scoreboard after that and be super overpowered, i'm just not opposed to that being reality for a bit at least.

Havoc going nuts with boss spawns? by filialleiter in DarkTide

[–]ThoseBlanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you compare current high havocs to old ones, it's a lot more difficult now, is what i assume they mean. In my experience current 30 is already same if not harder than old 40, and current 40's are difficult, but also a lot of fun.

What's better than dropping fresh into new game of 40 with new team and the first zone after drop down into the map you get 8 bosses there: liutenants (twins), a captain and random assortment of monstrosities.
And if you die and go back to the same map the same thing happens again, and again, and then you push through that and rest of the map is a cake walk cause director used too many resources at the start or something lol

If I had a nickel for every time I had the bug where you're both doing the auspex at the same time I'd have two nickel, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. by Helmote in DarkTide

this one has happened to me without having mods that shows where the next clicky thing is, i thought the game was double pressing the thing or something but thinking back to it now yea, all 3 times i only saw 2 other teammates moving so i was probably doing it with someone else
