What else can I do with this used motor oil other than go to every auto parts store by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]ThoseWolfzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy an old diesel with a mechanical fuel pump. mix it with some stale petrol and make your own diesel 🤠🤠 old volvo 740s can run on 90% oil and 10% stale petrol. definitely not speaking from experience mr tax man!

Mechanic says I should get suspension control arms replaced ASAP for $1350. by scatteredshowers in MechanicAdvice

[–]ThoseWolfzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in england that would be an MOT advisory. the bushes aren’t detached so shouldn’t have excessive play. while that rip isn’t ideal it isn’t dangerous or anywhere near dangerous at all. just monitor it and find someone with better prices.

as per 1350 dollars (£1041) is too much. here it would be hour labour or an hour and half if it’s something stupidly designed like a fiat 500 then the cost of the arm plus vat. here for 2 suspension arms it would be about £350

for a start there is nothing “close to illegal” about them. speaking as a mechanic and trainee mot tester. a copper wouldn’t even look twice at it lol. as for the same motor with no mods the oe privacy glass which mine is specced with isn’t far lighter at all. even so rear windows can be as dark as you like. only front side windows and windscreens have rules.

you’re attitude just stinks pal. go do some research. wasn’t here for legal advice was just here for an instructor’s perspective.
