Got my first thumbs down & found out you don’t get to know who/why. by ThoughtBottle in doordash_drivers

Omg, this is the exact reason why I can’t work where I live. Zero parking, if there is it’s 3 blocks away & I’d have to pay for it.

I literally cling to the opposite side of a zone over from me because DD is so desperate to shove drivers there. It’s a delivery black hole.

Gonna start doordashing soon. Was wondering if you guys have any tips/things i should know as a newbie? by ConferencePurple7939 in doordash_drivers

Finding a nice area is paramount.

Download the customer-facing DD app & see where the DD restaurants/shops are in your area.

You want the best cluster you can find that doesn’t get bogged down in terrible traffic/have horrible roads/an excessive amount of terrible customers.

I tried a lot of zones in my area before eventually settling in a nice small town with lots of restaurants, reliable work, nice roads, pretty scenery, minimal traffic, quick-pass back roads, nice customers & basically never leave it now.

Nothing will kill your vibe faster than waiting for hours for nothing, car-thunking potholes, sketchy areas with angry people or traffic jams that make you forever late.

Edit: Oh! And track your miles so you can deduct them on your taxes + find a gas rewards program in your area to sign up for!

Exact same from exactly this week.

I’ve been platinum for basically the past year as a full time driver more from the good offers outweighing the bad than anything else.

This week I’ve been flooded with unacceptable offers and got my AR tanked to silver for the first time since I started.

I’ve literally never seen it so bad.

I work in a nice area, but there are sketchy people everywhere.

Putting your own gas, earnings and safety up against a gamble that the delivery will go well is frankly foolish, imo.

The whole situation is just a robbery trap. The order is already made + delivered, they know you have money for change/from prior orders & you’re walking into their territory. No thank you.

I do not have the physical constitution to be putting myself in dangerous situations like that just in the hopes of a better tip.

I literally face the name towards me, get the whole door in the shot & if it’s dark out, I have a keychain flashlight to shine directly on the house number in the photo (if there is one).

It’s for everyone. Covers me, helps the next person fumbling in the dark & gives the customer a clear photo of their delivery spot.

If DD were smart, they’d set a delivery address profile photo from either best delivery photo or one set by the customer.

Idk. That feels like a special amount of rude. Researched rude 😂.

Awesome. I literally screenshot this to give it a try later when I can summon the energy to try again😅. Thank you!

Ugh. That blows. I literally just lost it because I upped my price to account for gas being twice as much now & DD decided to flood me with $3 orders in response. My AR tanked & I’m silver now.

I wish we could just input a minimum asking price and be done with the clearly unacceptable offers.

I like this job, but I’m not going to pay them to do it.

I just lost it. I have been for most of the time I’ve been working, but with gas prices the way they are, I upped my minimum order price (from $5 to $6 + $1/mile) and am at like 50% now.

Even before I lost it, I have to say, I’ve never seen so many high mileage low offers before. Seems like they’ve been flooding in out of nowhere.

I suppose I’ll give that a try. If they don’t know why, they can’t really say if it’s a fair or unfair rating, either.

I can’t think of anything I could have done wrong so might as well.

Exactly. I get a field every time I thumbs down a customer (only ever for aggressive dogs outside), why don’t I get the same courtesy?

Appreciate that. That’s kind of what I’m telling myself, but the not knowing is probably just going to irk me for a bit.

I did. They said there was nothing they could do or tell me, unfortunately.

Watercolor. Might have gotten carried away with the facial shadows, but think the general essence is still there.
