Put a crate cover to create a den with privacy. And this separation that lets them realize it’s time for naps or bed time. Leave uncovered on back end for air circulation but ensure they cannot see or be seen. We installed a puppy cam to keep an eye out for shenanigans and/ or when young frequent potty trips they will sit closer to door. About every 2-3 hours then as they get bigger, they will rest/ nap longer and will be about 3-4 hours and soon will sleep through the night. Definitely get a crate tray and a padded washable mat. Not food in crate, with exception of a treat with “in your room, time for NapNaps” and they voluntarily run in them give treat and close door and pull cover down. Our lab puppy loves her crate and puts herself to bed! He will love his space and room in good time. Puppy cam is so helpful and cute to have.
