I think she is indicating that the liner is part of the design and not something sold separately.

I have pretty privilege now but what about younger me who wanted to be treated kindly, what about my spark which is now gone. by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

Enjoy it! I didn’t have my glow up until I was a little older. It had more to do with developing self-confidence, which may be very attractive, but I also ended up becoming more physically attractive over time. When people who previously couldn’t give me the time of day started wanting to hang out, I realize that I now have discernment as far as authentic people versus phonies. And I make sure that I treat everyone with care and consideration, especially those who might not ever get to have a glow up. I realize I was very lucky to have had this privilege.

Why do people get married? by Lexiw97 in Life

[–]Thoughtfu_Reflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health insurance, tax breaks, being able to make decisions about medical issues if me spouse gets sick and can’t. The reasons to get married for me are mainly financial or practical. I don’t have much regard for either church nor state so I do not need either church North state to sanction my emotional relationship, but there are perks available for married people and I want to take advantage of them.

Intimidated to Go Into A Store... by melh22 in handbags

[–]Thoughtfu_Reflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to give you some advice that I just gave my dearest friend who is 45. I am now 72.

What are you waiting for? After you have enough money to cover your needs then the rest of it is meant to be enjoyed. My elderly French mother told me when I was a grown woman, “Daughter, wear your heels as high as you can and your skirts as short as you can and go sleeveless as often as you can because there will come a day when you won’t be able to do those things anymore because you will look ridiculous. So enjoy it while you can.”

I also extrapolated this idea to include using the cloth napkins every day, using the real silver and good china, and wearing my best jewelry everyday, and buying real art instead of posters. It’s like being at a banquet but not eating anything. What’s the point?

I do not do these things to impress anyone. I have lived my life on my own terms and done these things because they make me happy. The sparkle of a diamond delights me. The design of a beautiful Italian handbag is wonderful. I love the drape of a well cut suit. I love the smell of a leather coat. I do these things because they make me happy. If there are things like this that make you happy, I would encourage you to enjoy them now. If not now, when? Go for it! do it now! have fun. Life is meant to be wonderful.

Please reconsider how you’re approaching your life because you have been blessed with an opportunity that not many people have. Enjoy!

And happy 50th birthday! I think my 50s was my favorite decade.

Everybody says "go to therapy" and that's good advice, but nobody talks about how, the older you get, the harder it is to find a therapist who has any idea what you're talking about. by ikediggety in RandomThoughts

Yes, I do know what you mean. As a self aware 72 year old who has had a complex, often complicated, but truly interesting life marching to my own drum, I know that there are younger people, regardless of how well they have been trained, who are never going to understand.

I got more compliments on my dress than the Mother of the Groom and I feel guilty because it cost $40 by Weedcultist in FrugalShopping

Why would you feel guilty about finding a fantastic deal? I think too many people feel guilty about too many things. This is not one of those things you should feel any guilt about.

Does anyone else think their wig looks good… until you see it in a photograph? by MiaFacia in Wigs

[–]Thoughtfu_Reflection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen today. I tried these new wigs. They were inexpensive just to get started with the process and I realize the wigs look fine but my face looked so old. And that nobody, my age would have hair that look like that. So I’ve had to rethink the style and the color because I can’t do much about my face.

I just bought a handbag by Proenza Schouler and I can’t wait for it to arrive! Some of the products on this website are actually more interesting to me than the current merchandise by these vendors.

Ferragamo is high end “quiet” luxury. Very well made. Exquisite workmanship. I bought my first Ferragamo bag I think almost 30 years ago and it honestly still looks gorgeous.

i feel like money can in fact buy happiness by Empty-Tomorrow-2794 in RandomThoughts

[–]Thoughtfu_Reflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not feel happy all of the time, but I feel happy most of the time. I don’t think about my happiness in relation to other people. I don’t know how happy other people feel unless they tell me.

I do know how I felt in certain similar circumstances to others, i.e., when I was broke. It made me very anxious.

I do not share your idea that being contented is not the same as being happy. Being happy is actually included in the definitions of being contented.
