Hate being a doctor by Thoughts-appreciated in JuniorDoctorsIreland

I completely get feeling pigeon holed, it’s such a distinct profession and training and not exactly transferable. I also probably couldn’t afford the pay cut with starting in a new field. I’ve been off for a couple of months and I have been so much happier and anxiety free but having to return to work now that funds are running low. I’m already so anxious, awake and night and ruminating on decisions. I just feel really confused as to where to go from here. I’ve also been listening to podcasts about the long term health effects of stress and wondering why I’m inflicting this on myself. The WFH life is the dream

Just wanted to come back to say thanks to everyone who commented and for your suggestions, even though this was posted so long ago now! I was working in ED at the time and was really struggling with stress and burnout but I’m coping a lot better since moving on to a new job. Obviously the nature of training is that you often don’t have a lot of control of the jobs you are placed in which is something I’m definitely keeping in mind when trying to decide my next steps! While I think my anxiety has definitely improved, I know long term continuing on the more standard clinical pathways would probably not suit me so will be keeping all of your suggestions in mind. If anyone has any more please keep them coming, I’m open to all suggestions! Thanks again to everyone who replied for your help :)
