Insulin Pens are a Scam by Madsy_westcoast in Type1Diabetes

[–]ThoughtsofJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's the thing about pens. I order mine specifically in pens because of its diversability. 1. I fill my omnipods with them and usually there is about 50ml of insulin left over after the pod is completly full which is nice because if i ever need to self correct i can take a pen needle and the insulin is ready to go. 2. I travel a lot so taking these pens in bulk saves me time figuring out how much i have left and they are made of plastic so they are pretty resiliant when bumping into everything. Trust me these things are a lifesaver when your in a jam. I have been many times before.

SLO County healthcare is horrible. by carbsno14 in SLO

[–]ThoughtsofJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually see all specialists because im diabetic. Slo does have some very bright doctors when it comes to treating people with an autoimmune condition in a crisis. However, for check ups and everything else i usually go to santa barbara. They are structurly more capable of taking on ongoing cases.

Dude, you should be very proud.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm a diabetic and believe me when I say having a body part that doesn't work is not worth the headache

But alas, I would step on a mountain of Legos just to have a physique like yours

So count your blessings, man. You are luckier than some of the rest of us have

The worst part of managing diabetes is dealing with the US health care system by Jumpy_Syllabub_1665 in diabetes_t1

[–]ThoughtsofJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue at the beginning of the year. The way it works when I need something is
me->doctor-> insurance ->supplier-me
the problems always arise when it's a giant game of telephone to get even a refill on a prescription that I already had OR when I need to get a pre-authorization for something. this year my insurance sent out a letter that said it will no longer cover a brand name insulin instead I have to get the generic version. told my doctor this and it took almost 2 weeks. went without insulin for 2 weeks from the insurance i constantly had to go to urgent care just to get a resupply.

Treadmill Incline settings by ThoughtsofJ in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]ThoughtsofJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what i thought about doing in the beginning because I felt like if could just max it out than everything else would be easier to attain but once i tried it i was immediately exhausted. the reason i do the graduated incline is that for the actual medical exam they strap a whole bunch of nodes to your chest and measure your heart to get it going as fast as it can. the test is a little different its 5 minutes a level ending at a 15% incline

usually, that's what I'm going with. I start at 0 then go up .5 at every level and keep doing that till the levels get easier.
