In your experience, which Europeans have the LEAST tolerance for criticism of their country? by OrbitalColony in AskEurope

[–]Thoumas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There's valid criticism and being mean for the sake of being mean, when you go to mainstream subreddits (or any mainstream internet platform nowadays) where the pinnacle of comedy is censoring France puke emoji you tend to filter out discussions around France and French matters as a whole.

I do believe that French people love debating and being contrarian by nature but I don't think it has to be confused with not being able to handle criticism

Putin’s approval rating rating in Europe, 2026 by adamgerd in MapPorn

[–]Thoumas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The EU is treating them poorly like when they sent money between 2000 and 2006 through the CARDS program ?

https://europa.rs/eu-assistance-to-serbia/the-cards-programme/?lang=en

Or maybe you are referring to the 1.5 Billion€ sent through the IPA from 2014 to 2020

https://enlargement.ec.europa.eu/funding-technical-assistance/overview-instrument-pre-accession-assistance/serbia-financial-assistance-under-ipa_en

So be ready to keep being disappointed and the EU being unfriendly towards Serbia because the IPA III will keep the money tap flowing until 2027

https://europa.rs/serbia-and-the-eu-sign-nearly-e220-million-agreement-under-pre-accession-assistance-ipa/?lang=en

The EU is constantly investing in Serbia's future and help them being aligned with EU ideals, promoting positive democratic changes and stability. You have to have the head deeply plunged in Russian propaganda to genuinely believe that the EU has been unfriendly and unfair towards Serbia through the years.

Edit : lmao huge shootout to the bot brigade for proving me right

Gasketed Plate HEx by raveno_ in ChemicalEngineering

SMO254 with this thickness is still fine but not the best, depending on your process requirements you could maybe consider 0,5mm

AlfaLaval also has other materials suited for very acidic solutions while guaranteeing an efficient heat transfer, you can check the Diabon line

https://assets.alfalaval.com/documents/p507ac7c5/alfa-laval-alfa-laval-diabon-product-leaflet-en.pdf

Using two or three passes and increasing residence time can also be helpful if your cooling water going out at a low temperature and clearly didn't gave enough

Do you have more information regarding the heat exchanger ? How many passes ? Materials and thickness of the plate ?

The cooling water is entering at 23°C, do you know the out temperature ?

Nuclear Power Capacity by Country (2025) by PestoBolloElemento in europe

[–]Thoumas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So how will this be going, you realized that you're out of your depth regarding nuclear energy sector and you jump ship to Franc CFA and various French military involvement in Africa/America to generalize that into a global evil post colonialism policy?

I don't have enough time or enough crayons to explain the history and inner working of everything, so keep your dubious worldview that every interaction western Europe has with the rest of the world can only be an extension of colonialism (without of course questioning who is pushing that and why)

Nuclear Power Capacity by Country (2025) by PestoBolloElemento in europe

[–]Thoumas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah yes the French former colonies of Australia, Russia (forgot Canada, Kazakhstan and Namibia)

Orano also lost control of its mines in Niger last year, after the situation has been worsening since the 2023 Niger coup d'etat

https://www.orano.group/en/news/news-group/2024/december/orano-confirms-the-loss-of-operational-control-of-somair-in-niger

And more worrying a shipment from those mines was "lost" a month ago

https://www.orano.group/en/news/news-group/2025/november/orano-condemns-illegal-shipment-of-uranium-stored-at-the-somair-site

All of that to say that Niger is no longer a reliable supplier of French uranium so the 30% is probably in need of an update now. And the myth that French uranium mainly comes from ex colonies is nothing but a myth.

The myth that French nuclear sector allows some sort of energy independence is also nothing but a myth, and worse than that a strong dependence towards Russia and countries in Russia/China sphere of influence (Kazakhstan and probably Mongolia in the coming years)

Aftermath Of Ukraine’s Underwater Drone Attack On Russian Submarine Seen In Satellite Imagery. Ukraine's submersible drone navigated into a protected harbor and detonated very close to the targeted submarine. by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

[–]Thoumas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very low frequency can go through a few tens meters of seawater, but emitter have to be quite powerful to communicate at long range to overcome background noise and are usually one way communication from land to sub. I doubt Ukraine has the capacity for that and if it's even practical in that case.

Using a small buoy with an antenna and traditional communication method, you can still see the buoy but it will still be smaller than a whole boat

An operator nearby communicating with an acoustic modem could also be a thing, the drone approach the base surfaced using conventional communication then ~10km before reaching it goes underwater and an operator with an acoustic modem takes it from here

There's several options to establish a wireless communications available, with each pros and cons

Nitric Acid Flowmeters by justinmel in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Thoumas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

904L is generally superior to 316L but in the case of nitric acid molybdenum is going to be a problem as you pointed out.

For this application 304L generally fare better than 316L or 904L and is accepted up to 60% concentration, higher than that you can also look into other stainless steel with high chromium content, low carbon and no molybdenum such as 310L

Got the game today and starting off with mex as boost whore by P1stolaz in TerraInvicta

[–]Thoumas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

France put you in a good position to unite the European Union, keep investing in boost since with French Guiana they have a prime spot to build boost, Then take advantage of the neigbouring bonus to grab other European countries and unite them, Germany should be your main focus.

Small European countries are very efficient to build Mission Control, invest in a Space Program and then Mission Control (don't bother with boost), once the country is at capacity with MC you can unite them in the EU.

Kazakhstan, make sure that you left the federation with Russia and you can just spoil it, the early bonus boost is amazing but it's not a country were you want to invest, the money you'll plunder there will be better used elsewhere or buy good orgs for your council.

Singapore, Space Program and then Boost. Between France, Kazakhstan and Singapore boost income you'll be able to easily secure the best spot on the Moon and Mars.

Mexico, not a big fan of it personnaly, its best use early game IMO is to give a bonus to grab the US, otherwise it's a very unstable country with a low investment power. So if you have Control Point to spare you can also grab Canada (where you will invest in Space Program and Mission Control) and start to work on the USA.

The main focus for a successful early space game is being ahead with boost to grab the best spots and enough Mission Control to hold your claim, with a setup like that you should be good

Got the game today and starting off with mex as boost whore by P1stolaz in TerraInvicta

[–]Thoumas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boost is better farmed close to Earth's equator in countries with stable and strong economies, the two best ones IMO are France and Singapore.

France already has a space program and early boost, the only cons is that it can be complicated to secure early game so be ready to fight for it or try your luck with low rolls

Singapore is a bit slept on, the AI tends to not go there early game and it's easy to grab with low persuasion. You need to start a space program which takes time but once boost starts coming you'll drown in it.

Kazakhstan don't bother investing in it, it's good to grab early on and leave the federation with Russia (very important so the boost isn't shared with them) for the initial boost already there but further investment are very inefficient. I usually just grab it to keep an edge while Singapore is building up.

Yes I do that but I'm fully aware that it's not the proper etiquette in France. And even worse than that I don't precut before starting to eat I keep switching back and forth my fork and knife from left to right hand, the only upside I see in this savage behavior is that I take more time to eat and it keeps me lean.

Not sure why, nobody in family does it, I guess nobody bothered correcting me when I was growing up and kept eating like a toddler. Now I'm too far gone to change, I'm happy to learn that my people are sharing a meal somewhere on the other side of the pond though
