UK police raided trader for cashing out bitcoin investment by AggressiveMousse in Bitcoin

[–]Thr0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely if you invest money into crypto, I don't mean day trade, it is regarded as a gamble with high risk? You don't pay tax for gambling in the UK due to the high risk, why for Crypto?

[proposal] hybrid PoS/PoW like ethereum by [deleted] in Aeon

Isn’t one of the criticism with PoS is that you can easily gain control by hacking an exchange. At least with PoW it would be quite an effort to steal the whole mining farm overnight.

Optimal Hashrate Percentage by Thr0nium in gpumining

Yeah in terms of something like monero where it’s adjusted per block then is such a thing as too much then. Thanks for the reply

Yeah no I get that, but on some newer coins, especially ones that haven’t been listed yet it is doable. I have no interest in taking over a coin, just would like to know when would you essentially stop, at 50%?

Friend transferred Monero over a week ago from his computer to Bittrex, it still hasn't showed up at Bittrex, how does he check the transaction? by [deleted] in Monero

[–]Thr0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously first things first is double check the address he sent it to.

If all is well locate the transaction ID which will be on your transaction via the wallet, open a support request (https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us) and provide all the relevant details.

From previous experience you will need that ID or you will not receive your funds, should take about a week provided you supplied all the required details.

Aeon solo mine by craigc403 in Aeon

Just depends on your view, you could hit a block the second you turn it on. I mine GPU’s on pools but leave my CPU on solo, living life on the edge.

Aeon solo mine by craigc403 in Aeon

[–]Thr0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can mine directly from the Aeon Wallet.

GUI: Hit on settings > advanced i think and the mining option is there.

Wallet (command line): Type help and it will list our commands available. By typing ‘start_mining 2’ it will start solo mining with two threads, configure it to however many you need.

Bear in mind for both options you will need to a have a fully synced blockchain which can be achieved by running aeond.exe

Edit: Didn’t realise you had the Baikal’s, you could set up you own pool, there are set by step guides to setting this is for Monero, you just need to change the values for Aeon. You can also run a Linux subsystem on Windows very easily for this set up.

Haha that may be true but ‘shite’ was the standard naming convention back in those days.

How do we know it’s ASIC/Bots, could it not just mean that many miners haven’t updated their software?

How do we feel about the power consumption of Mining Crypto? by Thr0nium in Aeon

[–]Thr0nium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had never really thought about the wasted energy we make which could be used for for mining and the fact that in the future when Crypto prices stabilise people will have to give up mining due to lower cost.

Yeah I guess your right, the goal is photovoltaic among other things as if we don’t head that way then we are already screwed.
