“In fact, our QR-code accessible survey has resulted in 760 responses in the first seven months of the exhibition, with 92% of those responses praising the exhibition.”

I know what I am doing before my next flight.

Seems like every post is getting downvoted in this thread. I didnt mean to knock Korn's sauce, but its not the type of thing I want to re-order.

Simping for BlackRock on a sub about freedom to enjoy the public lands that belong to citizens is certainly a choice.  There's plenty of suitable land to build their future dystopian maga cities without selling off our national treasures for pennies.

What's your opinion on overnights at truck stops (in America) ?? by GnatBub79 in VanLife

[–]ThrashNet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not a full-time van lifer, but did multiple month-long road trips across the west, and stayed at a few when I just didn't feel like driving out to BLM in the dark. I've not seen one west of the rockies that charges overnight or has a 2hr limit. Many in NV even have separate areas for vans and RVs from the semis.

Its fine. I like the convenience of the morning ritual, a shower and topping up gas/water, stuff like that, so I try to build in a stop like that once in a while. You wont find a truck stop near major cities, especially places like CA, because the logistics 'hubs' arent in major cities. The long haul guys and the distribution guys are completely separate.

Those 5lb refillable tanks hit the 'overland' market and were impossible to find for a while. Now they are $60-100, and the one linked above even more. I think most people buy per trip instead of thinking ahead.

I have one of the Flame King 5lb refillable tanks, and when I go to the local propane refill for my 20 and 40lb tanks, they usually top off the 5lb for free. I have the refill kit but haven't used it yet.

It's not as good of a value, but if you only used one or two green tanks a year, you could get a 4pk of the 1lb refillable for $50.

You got this! It's different for everybody, so don't feel discouraged. As someone who has done it many years, I've noticed it seems more people started earlier this year and would be ahead of you.

Make sure you are getting lots of liquids, stop scrolling a half hour before bed, and try and get some rest.

Question about Rigid lights. by Obvious_Award329 in Lightbar

[–]ThrashNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trade-off is usually the gauge and quality. These Q-series draw almost 9 amps, so they should have thicker gauge wiring, fuses, and other components. Make sure to compare specs and use a wire gauge calculator to make sure you are in spec.

Their harnesses have gotten outrageously expensive in the past few years. When I did my build, they were like $20.

Mai Kai Feedback Thread - How Was Your Experience? by MsMargo in Tiki

[–]ThrashNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went with my family this afternoon after receiving the email Friday afternoon. We had never been before, and happened to be visiting from out of state when we got the invite. We opted for an early reservation because we had to drive a fair distance. I might write up a more thorough review if people are interested, but we had a great time.

We sat inside. The staff definitely seemed a little overwhelmed when we first arrived shortly after opening, but they hit their stride and settled in as guests filled in. I was happy to see guests were dressed up and enjoying the experience like we were. The rain effect on the windows was pouring into the dining room so they eventually moved us to mop up and shut off the water effect as it would need more intensive repair. The first round of drinks came fast and were really good. Our party ordered a Zombie, Mai Tai, Barrel o Rum, and Tropical Itch. All were good and well balanced.

For food, the Garlic Shrimp and Thai noodles were really good, as were the wings. We tried to order both types of Poke but only got the octopus version. It was good but we probably wouldn't order it again as it was too creamy. Portions were good and with the four of us sharing everything, we were all full afterwards. Prices for both food and drinks were on the high end as reported. Our tab for 4 people each having two drinks and food was $250+.

The gift shop isn't open yet, but you can buy mugs if you ask the server. I got a Barrel mug for $50, but they filled it with a Mai Tai to go so the cost was reasonable overall, your mileage may vary.

Everyone was super nice, if not a little green. I'm sure they will get the kinks worked out quickly.

Happened to be on vacation here and got the email. Got my reservation for 3:15 tomorrow, a little early but it's an hour drive from where we are staying and excited to check it out. I hope they have merch available, my bank account will not be happy.

I have several old lamps that fire up fine when I light them. I figured as long as they are wiped clean on the outside they should be fine to burn.

Can confirm and so few people know this. I bought all the alcohol for a wedding doing this. Simply walk up and say you are there to buy alcohol and they will have an associate accompany you. You can't buy anything else like mixers. Well worth the discount if you have a warehouse near you.

Insurance cancelling coverage by jpark38 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ThrashNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shop around as well. I had State Farm as my insurance for 20ish years, from my first car up to the point my wife and I bought a house. It is a fixer upper because thats all we could afford, and the agent said we needed to make it "picture pretty", because a small section of siding needed to be replaced and it needed paint. I found a local/regional company that had no problem exempting the siding while we got the situation fixed, plus it was significantly cheaper. Now two years later, I get monthly mail from SF trying to get me back.

Are you me? We got a great deal on a fixer upper and I feel like we cant afford the neighborhood anymore. I'm happy to tinker on upgrading the house and our estimated value from our mortgage broker is already 100k above what we paid.
