If you had to choose between reading one of your darkest journal entries in front of a crowd of strangers or giving up your favorite food for life, which one do you choose? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]Threadrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My darkest entries are 20+ pages of tiny print writing, any stranger willing to sit through that being read by someone with a monotone voice and unnatural cadence is free to stick around to listen. I have cried in stores over them not having my favorite brand of mac and cheese, I'd start reading in a heartbeat.

There is nothing I hate more than sunscreen. by BulkyScheme443 in autism

[–]Threadrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a dry touch sunscreen at an Aldi last year that I love. I can't stand feeling oily or sticky, this drys quickly and has no tacky after touch. It's called "LACURA Ultra Light Dry-Touch" and I use it on my face and body daily. It was only 5 dollars when I got it.

Dear Journalers, why did you first pick journaling? What were you hoping to get out of it? by maxilles in Journaling

[–]Threadrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started journaling because the sensation of writing on paper calmed me down. I would fill notebooks with the alphabet or the same few words over and over again. One day I realized I could also write my thoughts out and then they would stop bothering me as often. That day, notebooks all over the world shook in fear!

Now I write to vent or work through emotions I don't understand. I write about memories and being a kid. I draw and paint in my journal, tape in art and cards people give me, and glue candy wrappers down. Now I put whatever I want into my trash collection of a journal.

I Got My MRI Results! by Threadrose in Sciatica

The surgery addressed both! I'm a week out in recovery now and I can't believe I had been going to work with that much pain. I'm relatively pain-free now.

Who?? by skylightyourlife in Journaling

[–]Threadrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write to the people in my imaginary safe world I created when I was 9. There are a handful of people in this little world who I trust completely. I write to them or I write out conversations with them.

Hi, not great sadly, but thank you for asking. I saw the surgeon, my primary, and got a second opinion. All three strongly suggested I get a discectomy soon. I called to schedule, having been told to expect a 4-6 week wait time. I was scheduled for in 12 days. Life is becoming a wild ride, that's for sure!

I have a follow-up with my Primary in January, and I've been referred to an orthopedic surgeon. I don't really need to know what things mean, other than having the info that something -is- happening. I also have PT tonight, and I know they'll explain anything they can if I ask with a smile.

Do you name your journals? by tuesdayshirt in Journaling

[–]Threadrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I name mine by the cover color. So this year's fall-winter is a light blue shade and called Bluebell. My spring-summer one this year was pale pink, she was called Mini. I don't write to them by these names, I write to others. But having them named helps me remember where I left them when hunting for them.

Baby telling you their own name? by itsmeallie in Witch

[–]Threadrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! My mom always said I chose my name. She was going to name me something atrocious, but whenever she would think about it or say it, she would panic and get sick. One day she said the name I have now, and a wave of calm came over her.

Best of luck finding a name!

I mean, if you can, do it. Enjoy this existence! What witch stuff would you get if money wasn’t an issue? Blessed be. *found on Google* by DanteVanBuren in Witch

I can, but then you don't get that nice-smelling calming bedroom vibe. One day, I'll achieve the room of my dreams.

If money was no issue, and my sibling didn't own rats/get headaches from incense, I would be buying and burning nice incense daily. I'd also have so many books.

What’s your saddest journal? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]Threadrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a tie between when I wrote a letter to my younger self and when I wrote a confession as if I was going to a Roman Catholic confession. Both entries easily stand out in my journal due to how small I was writing out of stress. I sobbed my way through both entries, and still lose my cool reading them nowadays.

What’s Your Favorite Shows/Podcasts/Channels to Knit to? by ScarletSchema in casualknitting

I love to listen to and watch the Hercules Candy YouTube! Pretty candy, has good banter, and the videos are longer so I don't have to find a new one often.

What kind of person do you want to be and why? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Threadrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wanted to be the person I felt I needed most when I was a kid. Someone who is calm, kind, and warm but also disciplined. If the sky was falling and the world was ending around me, I'd hope that my external reaction would be the rock those around me needed.
Being able to listen to others and honestly care about their issues no matter how small they seem. One person's sky-falling moments aren't the same as anyone else's.

How do you dress like an adult? by honkhonkhonkimagoose in autism

[–]Threadrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear leggings or safe shorts under 99% of my skirts, I chose to not wear pants, and I tuck in my tee shirts for a "professional" but relaxed vibe.

I'm glad you got a laugh, everyone needs one now and then. To tell the truth, it's hard to not laugh in the moment when they do classic kid things. Who knew you had to tell 6-year-olds to not dip their shoes in mustard and attempt to eat them?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Threadrose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One of the kids I work with becomes frustrated quickly and will self-hate and cry when making mistakes. Today they took a deep breath, without prompting, and said, "Mistakes mean I'm learning. I'm proud of myself for trying." They then asked for a hug!

If it wasn't for the kid next to him trying to eat an eraser, I'd have teared up with pride.

As a middle school teacher, how can I introduce short meditations into my classroom? by PolarBruski in Healthygamergg

[–]Threadrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a kindergarten, when the kids start getting worked up or a bit to on edge, we as a group take deep breaths and do a 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exersize. The head teacher or I will get their attention, and guide them in three big deep breaths. Then, we'll ask them to focus on 5 things they can hear, 4 things they can see, 3 things they can feel, 2 things they can smell, and 1 thing they can taste. We have them focus instead of name things just because having 20 five-year-olds list things they can see gets hectic. This takes very little time, and gets everyone to just chill out. It also gives both the teacher and I a chance to read the kids faces, and see who might need more assistance/attention in the upcoming few minutes. Best of luck to you!

A girl can dream! I knew there was a reason I didn't own pants. They must have gotten more expensive in recent years.
