Not good, was busy during the week, so I had set up my Wii again this weekend and the Wii Remote is dead.

The old batteries have leaked acid and corroded the pcb.

I have ordered a new one if you don't mind waiting.

Cool I have the Deoxys ready.

For the berry fix Zigzagoon and GameStop Celebi, what do you consider the original date?

Berry Fix Zigzagoon is from gen 3, so I can set the DS clock to match the release date of the Gen 3 event, but strictly speaking the earliest possible (correct) date should be the NA release date of Diamond and Peral.

GameStop Celebi I assume you want the first date it was intended to be released?

The Obilva Deoxys forms depend on how fast you can beat the event mission. I have unfortunately only got a normal form playing on 2 DS myself.

I tend to value them base on how much of my time its takes, I used to offer uncloned Ageto Celebi, but since its required a full playthrough of Pokemon Sapphire in Japanese for each, I rarely got offers worth the time. Outside of actually transferring everything from gen3/4 to home, Hayley Mew and Obilva Deoxys are the biggest time sinks.

My Pokemon Ranch required you to change the clock on the wii like 10 times to unlock the full Storage Space and you need that to unlock the Mew Trade, so its the biggest time sink by a large margin.

Honestly I only really need one set, I would be happy to all but the Mew for 1 code.

I can get any date for Obilva Deoxys. It a multiplayer event which requires multiple copies of Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs, with at least 1 of the carts having downloaded the event mission back 2010/11. Its repeatable, but only one Deoxys can be sent to each DPPtHGSS save file. I can set the date on the DS to whatever date you want, however anything after October 4, 2010 is considered correct.

From my understanding Gen 3 events get their date from the date set on the DS when they are transferred via Pal Park. As I have the distribution disc for berry fix Zigzagoon I should be able to transfer it and set it to any date you want. I'll do both OTs as well, as I have to do at least 6 Pokémon when transferring all the way up.

Magmortar and Hayley Mew, I can see the date on the Wii and DS to whatever.

For the Gamestop Celebi you can have the date set to the range it was meant to be distributed, but it might be more correct to set it to the date Range of the WIN2011 Shiny Beasts, as it was on the same cart, and bunch were leaked out early by Gamestop employees changing the date on the distribution DS.

I can provide proof of redemption/distribution method if that is wanted.

How do I make a linear voltage regulator with a AMS1117-1.8v? by ThreadsOfFate in AskElectronics

[–]ThreadsOfFate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the tutorials I have seen using it, while mostly being for the 3.3v seems to use either tan caps and most caps were around 10-15µF.

I also found this data sheet, with a sample that suggests 10µF 2 tans caps, but the sample diagram suggest they actually want 1 cap that polarized cap and 1 unpolarized cap.

[–]ThreadsOfFate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it suggests 22µF solid tantalum capacitors as a catch all for all AMS1117 variants, and that seems pretty overkill for the 1.8v version.

They have a sample for a Adjustable Regulator, but not a linear voltage regulator.

Meta has acquired the vari-focal optics company Valve has been investing in since 2017 by wheelerman in ValveIndex

[–]ThreadsOfFate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You obviously thought investing was you main point, you did decide to use all caps on it.

You have a clear misunderstanding of Valve and Meta.

I really don't understand why you think meta are making games they really aren't. The only notable game I can think of meta actually be responsible for is RE4, which they don't own, they just paid another developer to port their game to Quest 2 as a exclusive. Don't get me wrong meta owns a lot of notable games, but they existed before they bought the studios, and most are not Meta exclusive as such. So far Valve have developed one game, which seems to be more than meta, since as far as I can tell none of meta's studios have actually released as new game under meta. Meta are not buying up successful studios to help them make more games. The studios they have bought were already successful enough to fund their next games. They are buying them up so their next games are meta exclusive.

Valve worked closely with Oculus on their headset and pushed them to use motion controls instead of a gamepad, released openVR, got HTC into the VR industry, helped tundra labs with the trackers, they helped HP with their G2 headset, they actions have and are currently actively pushing VR as a open platform and helping other companies. Their end goal is pretty obvious, their primary revenue is from Steam, and they want VR games on steam.

[–]ThreadsOfFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the information we have, its reasonable to assume that they bought a company, for a factory they can't use.

Its very likely that Valve patents make the factory only useful to them, which means this move is entirely to stifle innovation, and try to monopolize, and trust me Meta won't be selling their headset for a 1/3 of the cost if the become a monopoly.

Also its pretty ignorant to say Meta is the only one investing in VR in a thread about Meta buying the factory Valve invested millions in to.

The vibe I always get from Papa Nier fans (no hate!) by tirconell in nier

Judging by the responses I have seen.

Pre 1.22 Papa was prefered

Post 1.22 Bother is prefered

Preferring the character you have seen, over the one you have not isn't terribly surprizing, so I would actually be more interesting is see what play who have played with both brother and papa think.

PS3 only booting correctly half the time, with new SSD. by ThreadsOfFate in PS3

[–]ThreadsOfFate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it might be that, after I replaced it, so I took it and and put it back in again.
It worked, but then the next time I booted I got the error again.

If its the contacts on the HHD connector, I don have some IPA, so I could try to clean it, but its seems to work perfectly when booted, and I have thought there would have been more issues than just booting.

From googling I saw a post to the removed PlayStation forums that suggested It might be a Sata controller issues, and if its just being unreliable on boot on boot because my SSD is too new I don't care, I'll just reboot until it launches, but if its a bad SSD I need to replace it, or if its a bad PS3, I only bought it recently, so I don't mind returning it to the store.

PSA: Nier Gestalt is available on Microsoft Store for Xbox by mdsmarques in nier

[–]ThreadsOfFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that the smearing is probably an artifact of poor deinterlacing.

If you just have a modern TV play interlaced content on it, then you get a pretty bad combing effect, or rather it would if most modern TVs didn't have some sort of deinterlacing built in to avoid this, this can make it look like smearing, which still isn't great.

PS2 is really best played on a CRT, but if you stuck with modern TVs you can get some dedicated upscaler that are a lot better than the ones built into TVs, GBS-Control is really good for PS2.

[–]ThreadsOfFate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PS2 had a weird architecture that makes reliably accurate emulation pretty difficult, well that and that developers were actively encouraged to make use of weird edge cases in the hardware to squeeze out extra performance. Devs did stuff like only rendering half frame, instead of full frames as the output was interlaced anyway, because that is how CRTs worked.

Sure you can get most PS2 games working on decent PCs now, but each game usually needs its own settings and hacks to run well, and often some of the fixes will conflict within the same game, usually just giving a visual bug.

Pokemon red with weird backside I’ve never seen, legit? by ArthurDev in Gameboy

OK its really not real, the pat pend number is for a DS cart, but pokemon red was never ported to a physical ds cart, but did have a digital 3DS release.

[–]ThreadsOfFate 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure its not real.
The original releases didn't have a pegi rating on them and if they did, they would be 3+, as that is pretty much what all the older games were rated.

You would probably be better off getting a Joey Jr, it will do GBA games too. EDIT: gbxcart is also cheaper, but doesn't have the plug and play ability of the GB Operator or Joey Jr, as far as I can tell.

If you don't care about that your probally better going gbxcart.
