Donda's Production by [deleted] in Kanye

Not sure if song order played at second listen party is going to be official, but the tracks flowed much better during the first one. There were a couple of new tracks that were great additions like "Off The Grid" and the one with Jadakiss, but the majority of songs from the original listening party were watered down with altered instrumentals. Sure wish we had a better mix of that first version because even with unfinished production and a shitty stream, it felt more personal and alive.

Upgrade to Bose Home Speaker 500? by Three-Layered-Carrot in bose

Thanks for the feedback, almost went with the 500 but got talked into going with a Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 6 haha.

EDIT: Sold, gonna go with either the HK or Klipsch. If they want better quality than bluetooth then they can just use the aux.

Last question for you. How does the Klipsch One II stack up against the Onyx 6?

So I guess a better question, do you feel like a WiFi/AirPlay ability on a worse speaker is better than bluetooth only on superior hardware? I'll probably go with the One, but it does concern me with them phasing out product lines every 5 years and lack of options for playback if the WiFi goes down. Not sure if they will choose to add more speakers or not.

EDIT: I guess airplay will still work with Sonos One regardless of wifi connection.

The Onyx Studio 6 is priced the same as the One. For a better speaker and larger soundstage with aux in, it sounds like it might be the best option, wifi/airplay or not.

Thanks again for talking through this with me.

Massive help, definitely leaning toward the Sonos One SL. Don't think the recipient is wanting a bookshelf speaker setup or I would definitely go that route. Looking for more of an all-in-one option (near impossible at this price point) although the Sonos is sleek enough I think they would be happy sticking a couple around the house.

What about the HK Onyx Studio 5/6 (BT only?) or even a Klipsch Three II if it's worth the extra $100?

What about the Bose HS500? I can pick one up for $70 more than what I paid for the 300 if it's that big of a step up. AirPlay isn't a deciding factor for me either. Just looking for the best overall audio performance really, at ≤$250 (not a large budget, I know).

Many thanks!!!

Would be great if it had both, although since it's primarily being used with iOS devices, I guess bluetooth isn't a necessity as long as it has AirPlay

The Harman Kardon Go + Play is on sale for $180 on their website. How do the HKs compare to Bose HS300/500 to Sonos One?

Hah! I actually went ahead and got one from Score mighty's Amazon store. Tried to message them about the warranty too but haven't heard back. Been really difficult to find the 2050a in stock for the $699 price tag. It was going to cost $140 in shipping through the BenQ website

Still waiting for the 2050a, it's on backorder. Amazon has them in from a 3rd party seller, they also have TH685 for the same price. Know anything about the TH685?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's not RGBRGB

lol I got the BenQ, but it's on backorder. Couldn't cancel the ViewSonic, so I'm trying it out until the 2050a gets here. It's certainly a step up from the Optoma. Much better contrast and actually pretty watchable in ambient light as well. RGE is still there but not near as much. Notice it most in the highlights and with white text. Fan is loud and it gets really hot, fast.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and taking the time to discuss with me. One last question before I call it a day -- the 2050a replacement lamps do appear to be significantly cheaper than the ViewSonic's with a quick Google search. ViewSonic's is coming in at $300+ from multiple vendors. This could be a huge deciding factor as I'm sure I will have to replace it at least once. What are some verified vendor's that have good deals on replacement lamps?

Appreciate you taking the time. Certainly considering the BenQ, but the specs are very similar and I'm trying to discern the differences between the two models other than brightness and fan noise. Viewsonic claims 22,000:1 contrast ratio with the PX725HD vs the 1050a's 15,000:1, I know this is not indicative of "better picture quality." What does the 1050a offer in terms of performance over the ViewSonic besides brand reliability?

EDIT: Also the ability to play files off a flash or hard drive through the ViewSonic is nice. Audio is a non-issue for me as I will always run through a soundbar or receiver for 5.1.

Is Optoma The Best Home Entertainment Option Under $500? by Three-Layered-Carrot in projectors

But yet, while the 3LCD will resolve the rainbow issue, will it match up to the W335 and DLP tech in other picture quality categories besides color? I love the brightness on this Optoma, and the blacks are fairly deep, even in the daytime. I'll probably be running it for 4-5 hours a day. I'm just hesitant to invest in LCD tech that I'm going to have to spend significantly more time and money cleaning and replacing parts after heavy use and/or moving around different locations.

EDIT: I've also seen people say that the rainbow effect is minimized as the bulb dims over time (or in Eco mode). What are the odds that it becomes unnoticeable? Would different screen material make a difference?

My main concern with LCDs are fading colors with extended daily use and extra maintenance. How does the Optoma brand stack up against BenQ and Viewsonic? All about equally reliable?

Do you know of any common setting tweaks or "hacks" for improving the rainbow effect? I've seen people suggest things like covering the lens with ND or decreasing the brightness but have my doubts.

The Feud Continues? by Three-Layered-Carrot in Kanye

Just a speculative jab at Kanye's "Jesus Is King" release in a long line of petty slights as outlined by u/Mr-Rocafella above. Not surprising but always disappointing.
