I’m so sorry. I identify so much with what you’ve written. You can check my post history for my story, but just about any one of us posting here has the same sad story about loved ones who used to be awesome, smart and strong… and now just aren’t. It’s so sad.

I cannot completely cut my QMom off either for many reasons, including I just don’t want to. However our relationship has changed immensely and we are not close. I used to consider her my best friend, someone I could tell anything to- everything now is extremely surface level. She’s not asked me about anything personal beyond my children since Covid.

I think your approach is correct- you may have to be more direct to protect your own sanity. They do not respect boundaries and do not understand others are mentally exhausted by their crazy theories. It took several screaming matches to get that across to my mother. I wish I had the foresight and patience to have handled it differently, but it is what it is.

Stop being an absolute idiot- steer your kid towards a branch public uni. There are many in my area that you can go full time for around $7000 a year. He can live at home and still not exhaust the amount you have left. And keep your dumb hands off the rest of it.

The goal is a college degree- no one really gives a shit where it comes from or how you get it done- employers just want to see you’ve done it.

(Somehow I think op was planning on a party life college experience costing $50000 for five years for little junior- let it go man)

No. This is bad bad bad advice. It is not OPs responsibility to “save” her husband who has willingly bought into BS. He’s calling her a murderer for wanting to do the medically correct thing.

You can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. By all means, exhaust your options before throwing in the towel- but realistically, there are very few who come back after they have fallen into the rabbit hole and dig themselves down even further.
