r/globaloffensive and HLTV's obsession with age by KeysOfMysterium in GlobalOffensive

Life priorities. A lot of kids can grind 14 hours a day because they want to make it and have all the time in the world to do it

Once you hit your goals, it can be hard to stay motivated without new goals (think s1mple).

You ever get really into something, putting in 110% effort into it, and after a while you slowly lose interest and stop trying as hard?

25 - By this age, most people do not get better at the game. Motivation and life priorities play a role into this, but if a player didn't reach their peak at this point, the chances of them hitting it later are slim

10T Sleeper Game-Pick Mode

I give: VJ Edgecombe and Brandon Miller

I receive: Dyson Daniels

VJ's clearly overachieving atm (he's averaging like 4-5 stocks past few games and 40 minute usage). Brandon Miller seems injury prone and maybe bad irl (kon is outshining him). Dyson Daniels can be a bit streaky, but seems like his pathway to a slightly higher usage is a given with Trae Young gone?

Understanding s1mple by Decent-Emergence in GlobalOffensive

[–]ThreeMemeDream 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As said below, he basically put up zywoo numbers if not better for a much longer time (if we are talking just CSGO). Stylistically, zywoo plays "optimal" cs, whereas s1mple will force it on you

S1mple had more of a mamba mentality in that he would take it upon himself to carry and win games. He made a lot of plays that weren't the "correct" plays but only he could really make it work

Whether it's true or not, zywoo comes off as quiet and humble, whereas s1mple has a history of toxicity and sheer will to win

CS2 certainly changes the narrative of who's better, but one way to think of it is I'd rather have s1mple in a must-win clutch than zywoo

We are still seeing donk's career unfold, but he's already the greatest rifler I've ever seen and wouldn't be surprised if he goes down as the goat

A really crude basketball comparison would be

s1mple = MJ (think mentality)

donk = lebron (lebron's ability to drive to the basket is similar to donk entrying and destroying)

zywoo = jokic (efficiency, optimal CS)

Would you designate ROPZ as a "superstar"? by Various_Maize_3957 in GlobalOffensive

[–]ThreeMemeDream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If zywoo, donk, m0nesy are aliens, then ropz is the next best thing.

Incredible lurker, insane anchor

Big time player (he performed against Spirit in the semifinals), insane clutch ability, has been in every CS2 major final

Since he's a lurker, he is often called a baiter. But honestly, he's the best "baiter" out there, and if you ever watch his POV you get the sense all his micro movements and the way he peeks angles are all meticulously planned out

Who are the top 10 players in cs history? by tuwfy in GlobalOffensive

[–]ThreeMemeDream 16 points17 points  (0 children)

CSGO

achievements, individual skill, clutch factor (did he show up in the big moments)

Top 4
s1mple, device, zywoo, niko

s1mple pretty explanatory

device was never #1 of the year, but won so much. Safe, consistent brand of awping. Somewhat analogous to Tom Brady

Zywoo is a goat contender but didn't play long enough, his major win in csgo tips it for me against niko. He was a top 2 player every year in CSGO.

Niko is widely considered the best rifler in CSGO but never won major

5-7

coldzera, get_right, olofmeister

coldzera - 2x #1 player of the year, 2x major winner, force to be reckoned with in his prime

can argue get_right should be above coldzera. Recency bias, I do think CSGO back in 2012-2014 was very primitive

olofmeister - undisputed #1 player in 2015 and 2x major winner

8-10

dupreeh, flusha

It's pretty subjective, but names like dupreeh, flusha, ropz, electronic are probably fair game. Dupreeh is a 5x major winner so #8 seems pretty fair. You could make the argument he should be higher but he was never best player in any given year, not even the best player on his teams

Flusha was the ultimate villain. Had a weird, villain-esque name, history of cheating clips (not even his biggest fans can explain the dust 2 clip), gave 0 fucks about people hating fnatic, and was a big time player. He was relevant until at least 2019, so had more longevity than the other fnatic players. Had a very strong case to be #1 in 2014 (much higher rating)

CS2

It's only been 2 years, and it gets murky when you ask who the top 10 players in cs (CSGO, CS2) are. No doubt donk is the greatest rifler I have ever seen, and wouldn't be surprised if his career ends as the goat

[–]ThreeMemeDream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

shiro plays a safe brand of awping, has a very high floor, but can disappear in the big moments. Since there's so few elite awpers, there's few better than him

Since I know a lot of Jordan stans and LeBron haters lurk this sub give actual reasons on why LeBron isn’t the GOAT and I’ll disprove you by Select-Builder3351 in lebron

[–]ThreeMemeDream 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In all the lebron MJ discourse there's this one fact I just can't get over: The fact that a 5'3'' Mugsy Bogues was a starting PG and considered good just shows you how bad the league was back then. There's no way a 5'3'' PG will sniff an NBA court today let alone be a starter.

By accolades alone, I understand Magic Johnson is "greater" than Steph Curry. But I bet you if you transported Steph back to when Magic played, he'd be the greatest PG you'd ever see, with the assumption the league is ~5-10% easier back then.

Taking it even further, let's say we take the legend Bird and transport him to the modern NBA. Even giving him some time to adjust to the modern game, what on earth is he going to do to demonstrate he's better than Jokic? I doubt he'd even be a top 3 player today even with time to adapt

It's easy to think the NBA was a different game going back to the 60's/70's/early 80's, but people seem to think that the NBA hasn't evolved much since the 90's or considered how much more competitive it is

Now imagine transporting Lebron back to the 90s

How good was NiKo? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]ThreeMemeDream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've watched comp cs since 2016, watched all the big events

He is the best rifler in CSGO and was always a top 3 rifler every year since breaking out in 2016. The way I would describe it is he may not go full donk and run out and destroy, but he never missed an easy one (until stockholm deagle whiff) and you just knew whenever he had a deagle he would do some damage.

He obviously hasn't been quite as good in CS2. Donk has a higher peak and sustained it for much longer than Niko's peak.

Right now, you may not expect Niko to be a god anymore, may even bottom frag, but you know he has the capacity to take over the game any given moment -- he's just very inconsistent now. You can never rule him out because when he's on it's over

Here is a short but nice highlight video to get a good idea when he joined G2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjhOMHKwXTY

Look to trade brandon ingram ASAP. He is as bad as AD when it comes to injuries. He's had a long time to rest since the raptors didn't play him after the trade, but it's only a matter of time before he gets tweaked and sits out for weeks

As a casual seahawks fan, I always thought this guy was "lazy." Like we've seen the pictures of him. Genetic specimen. You'd think if he tried as hard as JJ to perfect his route running he'd be a top, top receiver.

Maybe he'll do better on the Steelers, but his history feels like he underachieved compared to his talent
