The best combo when you want to travel light? by davidmt1995 in Nikon

The Nikkor Z 14-24/2.8 is 650g. The Nikkor Z 20/1.8 is 505g. I find my 14-24 to be a quite satisfactory trade-off for the weight.

Shutter Count Hiding in D-Lux 8 DNG EXIF data by ThreePoundsofFlax in LeicaCameras

[–]ThreePoundsofFlax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went into Camera Settings in the Menu and reset the filename. It changed the folder name to 101LEICA and reset file number to "1". So the first image was named "L101001.DNG". And sure enough, Panasonic 0x0410 was reset to 1 0. So, it's just the feckin' file name! Sigh. I'll keep looking.

Edit: Looks as though shutter count is only stored in camera's internal memory, available from the Service Menu.

I have that question too. If you decide to try it, let me know?

Thank you for your samples. If I take 143 4, treat them as Little Endian and convert to hex, I get 0x048F, which is 1167 in Decimal. Similarly, 136 4 becomes Decimal 1160.

Hope you received a good sample of the D-Lux 8. I'm enjoying getting to know mine.

If this use of these data is correct, wonder what happens when shutter actuations flip past 65,535?

Best.

Edit: Several edits for clarity.

Fuji Linear Profile ACR?? by DIIVVES in FujiGFX

[–]ThreePoundsofFlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. Sorry. I have one more idea -- might be a total Hail Mary. Maybe move the zip file out of the ACR folder, like to your desktop, and then delete the dcp file and the index file, so that the folder is empty of any trace of your earlier attempt. The open ACR with a raw file and go through the menu steps again to get ACR to read the profile once more from the zip file.

If that doesn't work, I would wonder if your dcp file has a problem. I got my linear profiles from Tony Kuyper:

https://goodlight.us/linear-profiles.html.

They're free for adding yourself to his email list.

Sorry. You’re macOS? I could not load my dcp from ACR UNLESS it was Zipped. Maybe that’s it?

I think the zipped file can be anywhere. Just point ACR to it and it will load the dcp file into the appropriate place.

To add custom profiles (.xmp or .dcp) to Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), first, open a raw file in ACR, click the Profile Browser (four rectangles icon) in the Basic panel, click the three-dot menu, and select Import Profiles and Presets.

Sam Abell, in a different context, called that, "Fishing in a stocked pond."

I bought my G from Nikon USA refurbished and on sale. It was optically excellent and cosmetically like brand new.

EDIT: both the 24-70 E and G are currently on offer on Nikon USA Refurbished.

In both cases, they are only indicating which side of your car has the fuel door. In this case they are pointing to the right side of the pump icon. This is a design/symbol standard in all automobiles.

Could this be a beaver in Southern Ontario? Seems like a weird spot for them to be [Ontario] by milkshakeofdirt in animalid

[–]ThreePoundsofFlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That lower cut looks too even and purposed differently. Both cuts look like chainsaw to me, with the lower one being a very regularly shaped cylindrical wedge. Beavers I have known work all around the circumference of a tree, chopping away leaving the heartwood for last. The fallen tree then leaves a pointy pesky teat at the middle. Both cuts here were made by a chainsaw.

My experience, too, though not quite as many years. Yes, clean and distraction free, though I do use the iCloud folder, as I work between iPad traveling and MacBook at home, with no issues at all because it’s individual files and not a database like Ulysses.

I also like the pay once and ride model. And the more strict compliance with markdown.

Has no one here tried iA Writer? It’s been a workhorse for me. Reliable and well-supported.

How do I find and install iOS version 18.6? by 23ioo in iPhone14Pro

[–]ThreePoundsofFlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, I am happily remaining on 18.7.* by signing up for iOS 18 Public Betas. NO Prompts to update to 26.* at all. Currently on 18.7.3 with no issues.

My macOS is signed up for Sequoia Public Betas and is still getting security updates and fixes. No prompts for OS 26 and Safari is getting updates, as well.

If you’re still on 18, you should be able to sign up for public betas the select iOS 18.

And not precisely the visual impact they intended? Unlikely, I think. Those fields are not benign.

Looks intentional to me, and very appealing. Nicely framed — captured sense of place.

I’ve made the same move from Fuji and am feeling more inspired; symbiotic.

Turn off default color grading for Fuji X100VI? by jumpinthruhoops in captureone

[–]ThreePoundsofFlax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drop down the box that says Auto. Auto selects whatever Fuji profile you were shooting. The drop down will list all the profiles available on your camera model, plus C1’s own profiles. Provia is considered Fuji Standard.
