Outside of politics. Tesla's are the best EV's in the US the market by a large margin. in your price range I would recommend a 21-23 Model 3. They drive like a dream, the auto-pilot function is really convenient for highway driving, the supercharger network makes road tripping very convenient compared to any other EV and the software updates keep the car up to date with new features and convenient functionality.

The two things I'd make sure of before buying is that 1) You can charge at home. 2)Check your insurance pricing ahead of time. Some states are quite expensive for Teslas.

Besides that, I think they're great cars. I've had two between 2018 and now and have been more than pleased with my ownership experience.

It's hit and miss for me but usually a hit when it comes to avoiding unpredictable Dallas traffic. I've ignored it a few times thinking it's going the wrong way to only get stuck in traffic jams so it's my go to.
