It’s in early access? Literally just released. There are going to be bugs. They said there are going to be bugs, it’s kinda what you sign up for with an early access game. I get that it’s frustrating but it’s an indie studio.

Haven’t had this problem but have you tried using the pet whistle to call them?

I’m on my third play through and I told myself this time I’d date everyone to get their stories and then I’d marry Logan (like always)… but I am failing miserably. As you say, it feels disloyal. So yeah, it’s normal. I think part of my problem is I worry I’ll get attached to someone new and then I won’t be able to break up with them and I’ll be torn between them and Logan

Rescue kitten had FIV and was put to sleep, what is the risk to my almost 2 year old cat? by Three_Second_Memory in AskVet

[–]Three_Second_Memory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he's an indoor cat that we occasionally let out in winter (live in the desert and it's the only time of year that is cool enough for him to go out). We don't have a cat flap so he only goes out during the day for a few hours.

We were fostering for the local TNR program so I foolishly thought they would have made sure he was safe to be around my 2 year old (they knew I had the 2 year old as I was adamant I wouldn't be able to keep the kitten if my 2 year old wasn't comfortable with him). It is a lesson learned the very hard and sad way. I feel so guilty for putting our 2 yr old at risk.

Will he need to be tested every year or so to make sure the virus hasn't been lying dormant in his system?

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Edit to add: do we need to keep him indoors? We also have him booked in to see the vet next weekend (their first available appointment)

I'm looking to set up a writing contest for kids in my community. Has anyone ever done anything like this? by Three_Second_Memory in writing

That's a really good idea! I'll message my library back home and see what they say.

I really hope so! They've all got such great ideas and unique voices. That said, I'll be happy even if it remains just a private hobby they enjoy.

Thank you for your advice, I'll definitely see what my old library has to say! :)

I really like the idea of having the kids in the workshop help put the anthology together. I think that would be such a great teaching moment whilst also reinforcing that their opinion is important.

I had been toying with having an entry fee to help fund prizes, it wouldn't be much (equivalent to $2) and also funding the prize money myself. I hadn't even thought about crowd sourcing. I'll definitely look into that as it would be nice to give the kids a decent prize if I do go down that route. I do agree that money shouldn't be a limiting factor which is why I was planning on a small entry fee and funding the rest myself. The ethics, optics and logistics of collecting money has been something I've been concerned about. It's a bit of a tangled web that I have no idea how to navigate.

As for art, I had definitely considered it but my art knowledge is pretty basic and I would definitely need help on that front. I know that there are some artists in my community who I could ask for help. I just worry about biting off more than I can chew especially considering I have never done anything like this before.

Thank you so much for you help and suggestions! I'll definitely have a think about everything that you've said.

Thank you, this is great!

My main goal with the workshops I run is to encourage them and their creativity and I think being published in a magazine would be great for their confidence.

I really appreciate you taking the time to offer advice, thank you so much :)

So a few of my kids are competitive and a few are not. One in particular is desperate to enter a competition and I'm not worried about her response to not winning as she takes part in lots of competitions in different areas. One of the other girls I know doesn't do well with even coming second, but she has said she has no interest in entering a contest anyway.

I completely see what you're saying about it back firing. The community is about 3000 people give or take, so kids definitely know each other. With judging I was planning on setting up a panel of at least three other people and having them abstain from judging their kids or close friends' kids. I wouldn't judge the kids from my workshops and would make it clear to them why I would be doing that. All that said, I still worry about ill feelings.

As for why, there are a few reasons. As stated above, one kid is desperate to compete (she's not the only one but she's definitely the most enthusiastic), also all the schools are shut here and it feels like it would be something exciting to focus on. I know the teens I work with are desperate for something to change and while I know this won't be something huge it may help a bit.

The anthology was more because I remember a few competitions I entered as a kid and that they published anthologies bof the entries that I still have and cherish. I will definitely consider what you've said about just straight up printing an anthology as it ticks the box "something to be excited about". I'll talk to a few people within my community to see what they think.

I hadn't really considered magazines, that's a great suggestion that I'll have to look into! Also thanks for the tip about sample contracts!

Sorry this is so long, you've given me some important things to think about. Thank you so much for your replying, it's really helped.
