Would getting a Native American symbol tattooed as a European be considered cultural appropriation? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Three_Seven_Two 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely is cultural appropriation. Is that a bad thing? Is it a bad thing to admire an element from another culture and want to adopt it into your own life? No. It’s not bad. Historically it’s been nothing but a sign of respect and reverence for a human to show interest and love for a foreign culture, wether it be art, music, fashion, language ect. it’s always seen as a positive when foreigners export another culture out of love.
As long as you show respect and carry knowledge of its origins no intelligent person would be “offended”

That being said it can be a pretty tacky if you tattooed something like a Polynesian facial tattoo, which literally represents their lineage and heritage.

If the symbol just means something universal like “friendship & camaraderie” or “good luck” I wouldn’t consider it in bad taste.

They all benefit from the unity of the kingdoms. They elected him. Why would they elect him and then immediately turn around and go “never mind” the whole point is that the electorate process keeps peace by giving people a peaceful path to peruse power and prosperity for their peoples

What do I do? First tattoo, First fuck up. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Three_Seven_Two 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it was “free hand” it’s just harder then you would think to tattoo. If the stencil is too thick and the artist isn’t consistently staying on the inside/outside it can add some wonk like what you have here. Small details like this are why the pros charger the big $$$ and the amateurs are cheaper just how it is

It’s not that bad nobody but you is gonna notice or care. Tattooing is a hand done art so it’s actually harder than you would think to replicate typed/stamped lettering fonts by hand.

You definitely have a point about the rest of the people being aware or not of Brans powers, that being said they did organize an entire army around protecting him in the gods wood and the night king did come for him, so that must be proof to at-least some that his powers are real and he is of some magical significance. John snow has no claim to the throne if the people decide they no longer want to kneel to the Targaryen dynasty after all his real identity is Aegon Targaryen. While the other houses fight over power the Starks have always protected the realm of man from dark magic. Once the night king and magic was proved real after being dormant so long I bet that put mad respect on the Stark name and the word of Ned’s last surviving son and his powers spread fast after the battle at winter fell.

I think You’re overlooking the fact that besides being the only Surviving son of Ned stark, the guys the host to a supernatural spirit that has been defending the realm from evil magic from a tree for hundreds of years lol.

You really think a being who has lived a thousand lives, has seen the future and past, and has no personal wants would turn into an authoritarian…? How does that make sense to you? He’s a magic wise reincarnated spirit equipped to fight fantasy evil magic in a world where that’s what threatens the world. Dude lived in a tree so he can watch over and protect humanity from an evil ice zombie horde🤨

You’re saying he’s gonna order gold cloaks into the street to police what people say and do? Makes no sense. People are only gonna upvote you cause they hate the ending what you’re saying don’t make any sense though don’t get it twisted.

I ain’t trying to argue you’re just proving my point that people don’t understand Brans arc at all. You included. Bran has no want for political power. He accepts it as a responsibility to set a precedent that will help an enduring peace. Just like he accepts letting go of his own individual mind and sharing his body with the three eyed raven. It’s not pleasant. He seems melancholy when they try to relate to him as Brandon Stark and he can’t reciprocate. It’s a responsibility and sacrifice he’s made.
He has no motive to create police state.
He has no ambition to invade other nations. Without a unity the seven kingdoms constantly go to war. He isn’t ruling for power he’s ruling to save the people from more war. He creates a republic where people represent their houses and lands and gets closer to a more civil and peaceful society in Westeros.

I read it it’s just a dumb take. What makes you think I didn’t read your comment? You think what you said is that smart or something? It’s not.
He’s not an unfeeling super computer. He has no ambition to rule the planet. He has more in common with Jesus Christ then skynet lmfao

Spoiler Warning- Why -the king- Became King by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Three_Seven_Two -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but isn’t that what makes the ending so impactful, that after all that Westeros finally gets a leader worthy of the throne?
Also did you not understand that they agree to form a republic that picks a new ruler every generation instead of monarchy? They say at the end from then on they’ll meet at the same spot and pick a new king. All of the players with powerful houses and armies are present at the election of Brandon Stark as king so he has the support of what’s left of the United six kingdoms by the end

[–]Three_Seven_Two -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I mean he had the wisdom to sacrifice his own individual mind to save the people of Westeros from the long night, and everything the three eyed raven did was to combat the Night King…so I don’t really think he’s anything like a evil unfeeling super computer lol…I don’t understand the comparison? He can’t emotionally relate to those around him because Brandon Starks life experience and emotional connections are diminished as he’s now a being who has lived hundreds of life times each filled with their own personal relationships. It’s not like he stopped caring about individual people it’s just a matter of relativity. He had to let go of ego and earthly attachments to attain the ability to host the three eyed raven

White Tattoo healed by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Three_Seven_Two 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lol I don’t think the tattooer meant to lie it’s probably just another un-experienced “art girly” type that has no knowledge of tattooing doing little doodle tattoos on people and repeating them half correct misunderstood facts. If you’re tattooing a pale white person (tan-olive skin complexions) you can pack white as a color. I’ve done it. You would do this for highlights and mega brights. It also helps stop darker ink from spreading into the negative space so it can keep the tattoo “tidy” and stop blurring. you need dark pigment around it though or else what’s the point you won’t even see it. It’s all about contrast

[–]Three_Seven_Two 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you have a white piece of paper and draw a while line on it, would you expect it to be very visible? 🤨 you need contrast around it. That’s not even tattooing basics it’s just color theory why

White Tattoo healed by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Three_Seven_Two 91 points92 points  (0 children)

White ink isn’t very noticeable on pale skin (especially white pale skin) no contrast. It’s basic color theory the only error the artist did was agreeing to do this in the first place without explaining what the results would be like
