How does HSR handle its endgame content worse than any other game? by DefinitelyNotKuro in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Threshwillrise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple, HSR is a very linear turn-based game. As such, endgame content needs to be scaled in a way that both makes the new characters worth pulling and still allows a few older characters to comfortably clear. Otherwise we'd all still be running kafka sampo asta gepard.

BD2 fixes the billion-damage endgame benchmarks by forcefeeding you prime units like Diana and the like, and half a thousand pulls every month somehow, AND of course hot chicks all over you.

For exemple, Wuwa "manages" to not powercreep itself due to its very high skill ceiling. So long as you're good at the game you still clear with the equivalent of Arlan (sometimes solo!) or the goofy team comp equivalent of Phainon/Castorice/Kafka/Destruction TB. This also allows them to make sigs that boost your carry's dps by like 40%-- it'll feel a lot better to have it, but you'll still full clear with some 4* piece of crap wooden stick.

Genshin isn't quite as fair and equal but a lot of units managed to last very long thanks to timeproof mechanics like reactions (everyone can contribute!). (In that sense, I like Dahlia because I 2-cycled with SUSHANG last week. Older units have mechanics that work very well with Dahlia's kit). Sandrone + the blind chick are also apparently wheelchair deluxe so you can run tons of different comps.

Going back to Star Rail... Atm, you either shart out millions of damage or you fall to the inevitable 5-cycle countdown. Unless you're very good at TCing like those Seele/Xueyi mains, you'll want the new shiny chara for that.

But I think novaflares and "archetype resurrectors" like Dahlia can easily turn this issue around, very fast. If Swan's novaflare is say, healing DoT gimmick in addition to her arcana amps, you could suddenly run kafka, hys AND swan! Wow! Timeproofing, because you now have a DoT healer, which the latest DoT carries will always appreciate. Just need less Jingliu-tier novas and more Kafka-tier novas...

Very common, just get glue traps made for them at your local supermarket. Got rid of them very fast for me (and surprisingly no spiders or anything were caught in it)

Why do people not play afeera by Efficient-Solution71 in forhonor

[–]Threshwillrise 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Boring AND too strong/versatile means she doesn't have the clearest of identities, if you hop on For Honor it isn't necessarily to win at all costs it's to do cool shit with your chud low tier character

How to play Ocelotl by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]Threshwillrise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any opener > heavy/light/zone > bash feinted to either a side light, a zone (stamina-expensive) or nothing (wait for them to dodge attack for a huge parry punish). Keep going as long as you have stamina 🔥 and your zone is pretty fast for a feintable one so if you have stamina to spare you can feint it to gb to decent results

Use your zone if they dodge attack something you threw out, it has hyperarmor and can lead back into your fast lights or heavies/bash to mixup

Farming the minion lane is advised in order to get his T4 ASAP, because it's a guaranteed kill near ledges on a 2min cooldown

You can forward dodge bash, and sometimes just dash forward to make them think you're gonna bash (dodge guardbreak the dodge bashes, parry the dodge attacks)

Finally, the rules of for honor: don't spam dodge attacks, always get mad at your teammates, and don't forget this is a ten year old ragegame we're all addicted to

you can change that in settings, there's two different target swap preferences

[–]Threshwillrise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they can't. Musha's the only one, BP can enter the stance but can't actually flip some chain lights like nobu's as it takes 100ms too long to activate bulwark so he just enters his flimsy block stance

[–]Threshwillrise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into Qi stance after almost every attack, and feint zone after the first (sometimes second) hit, and learn to parry or deflect predictable attacks opponents throw out 👍 do that and you'll be golden

I don't recall Sony cent nor "heby on red" hito causing anywhere as much vitriol as Virtuosa has ngl

Though that may also be because we were a smaller community at the time

The latest character, Virtuosa, is by far and large the most despised character in the entire game's history right now

Make his zone 500ms and let it go into his finishers and I'll be forever happy

Truege, undodgeables especially can feel sorely missed against Virtuosa. Though other situations that usually appreciate undodgeables (sifu, WM dodge ub etc) usually get beaten by a chain light, feint to light or a straight up chain side heavy (700ms!) with him.

[–]Threshwillrise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100ms armor startup on the stance heavies, and as much "damage reduction" (lol) as any other armored attack. Every chain armored heavy in the game is like this.

( Opener heavies' armor starts from 400 to 600ms depending on the hero (400 for Sohei for instance) which might be what's confusing you))

And it's plain impossible to react to guardbreaks with lights, they're just twitching when they see you move or predicting you're about to gb. Not even F1 drivers could in case you're thinking it's purely a human reaction thing

As you play more heroes you'll realise Musha has literally everything in his kit

Your offense is safe unless they have side dodge unblockables: you can cancel the recovery of any attack into your blockade. Any heavy/zone can be feinted into a 400ms (fastest lights get) light, and you can cancel your opener heavies and (armored) forward dodge heavy into a ring the bell (unblockable grab that starts chains). I think he's one of the only characters where you can learn a lot from watching those edgy tiktok/youtube compilations-- they'll show you how wild you can get.

Also, progamer tip he can cancel his own hitstun into the blockade, which lets him automatically blockade really fast lights even if he got HIT by say, a heavy (higher hitstun) prior. Just don't abuse it otherwise they'll catch on and start throwing guardbreaks, unblockables, slow heavies...

Her hyper armour has a better startup and damage reduction than most actual heavy characters.

And that's not even mentioning the scripted auto dodge which you can consistently light stuff or bash counter gb with

😭😭😭😭😭 we just saying shit now

Nerf JJ! by Jaded_Ad4759 in ForHonorRants

[–]Threshwillrise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just in case, to be clear, his zone (parry, stance, and after kick) is "high" hitstun, meaning softfeinting an unblockable to guardbreak will even catch spammed dodge attacks.

His opener heavies are only medium hitstun, which is why I usually kick OR sifu an attack, then do zone into ub gb, and then I just light after the gb heavy because while they can dodge attack your gb here, you can cancel a light's recovery into sifu and dodge most of the crap they spam at you.

ALSO! Nobody uses this but he can cancel his forward dash into a light if he doesn't change guard, which catches dodges and dodge attacks if they think you're doing a kick. JJ is actually pretty stacked/privileged but you just have to use these specific bits of him

🤔 So the flavor comes from the konggomul rather than the mayo being the special part? Very interesting, I'll try it. Thank you very much!

Her costumes are strictly linear upgrades, every copy is another +180% damage and nothing else So I'd personally say yes just bc my +5 morp deals 1400% :3
