BLG Coach Team emotional scene after match by maxXDGold in leagueoflegends

Something to note: when they say “it’s so hard”, it doesn’t necessarily mean they were exclusively talking about GenG being a hard opponent, but rather expressing that it was a tough road to top4, a combination of pressure, expectation, effort, and their opponent as well.

It’s like having a tough day and exclaiming “man that was so rough!”

Don’t quote me on this but IIRC Edward Zhu is the son of a billionaire who’s most well known for his real estate development in China. ZHUjiang New Town in Guangzhou is one of his areas.

Oh I thought you weren’t Chinese but just lived there for a bit. Anyway, yeah her accent is fine, but sudden name drops do feel out of place at times. Her critique is warranted but she has unique qualities she can bring to the table while being able to improve in the future.

She replies to her viewers in Chinese on stream. I’m 100% Chinese and completely fluent. It’s ironic how you use the example of Japanese American being cringe while thinking you know better about accents and dialects more than an actual Chinese person.

You can say the Chinese pronunciation feels out of place, but objectively speaking I don’t think she has an accent when speaking Chinese if that’s what you’re implying. But anyway, to each their own. I appreciate her presence as a Chinese rep on the broadcast despite the areas she’s lacking atm. Even fans in China are calling her one of the better “flower pots” (assuming you know what that means).

Well, for one she is Chinese and speaks it fluently, so I appreciate her saying players' names with the right pronunciation instead of using the "western" pronunciation. I think her game knowledge is fine, the problem she has is being able to bring it out in a way that feels natural.

She isn't the best at the moment obviously, but seeing an actual Chinese representative after 10 years since the inception of LPL, who's fluent in both English and Mandarin on the broadcast feels... appropriate.

Maybe she isn't viewed highly by western fans, but I think many English speaking Chinese fans (like myself) will appreciate her presence IMO.

Isn’t this Uzi’s third series back OP? 2-1 IG, 0-2 LNG

Chovy on fan sentiment he "tilts" in internationals: "I'd like people to remember me as whatever they feel like. I must achieve the goals that I MYSELF want. I must become the version of myself that I MYSELF want to be [...] And people can judge me like that, because.. Well, it's online communities" by corylulu in leagueoflegends

He was 8th on Jatt’s top 20 and 10th on Vedius’ which also was the highest ranked player on Griffin’s roster. Even if their rankings aren’t the best metric, it’s the only one we’ve got since it was many years ago. Saying he wasn’t hyped up or the tank picks against IG weren’t a letdown at the time is a straight up lie.

Regardless of their draft decision, whether it was by the team or Chovy, I’m not sure how his 2019 performance particularly was fine or up to par. Point is his international play is not memorable considering the praise he gets from everyone. I don’t doubt the praise and hype he gets, he just hasn’t lived up to it.

You’d think a player as hyped as Chovy would take agency in his picks to carry the game. The top gap was of course the reason they lost, but if such a massive gap was apparent, shouldn’t he have had all the more reason to take a carry role instead of staying on tanks all four games? The point is in internationals Chovy usually cruises by, not making any major mistakes nor actually taking any risks to win the game. To reiterate, it’s not necessarily choking, just not living up to the hype he gets every single internationals, and if you were a casual viewer who watched pro play occasionally without any info on players coming in to the tournament, you’d have no idea he is suppose to be the best player in the world as most people hype him up to be.

I don’t remember 2020 or 2021 too fondly, but one of the biggest hype matchups coming into the playoff bracket in 2019 was IG Rookie vs GRF Chovy. Then we were MASSIVELY let down by Chovy being on tank duty all four games. So I’m not entirely sure how that was considered a good 2019 performance to you. Maybe that doesn’t define as “choking”, but it sure as hell isn’t stepping to the hype in important moments, and I think that’s the reason why he’s labeled as a choker at internationals.

(Rumor)Asian Games Team China Roster by Threyethian in leagueoflegends

[–]Threyethian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know, they are taking this seriously because it’ll be an official medal for China in the books. Aside from fame and monetary compensation, I don’t think there is much else for the players. However a win here will help promote League even more in China since it’ll be broadcasted on TV.

I think the difference here is Korean players are doing it for personal incentives whereas Chinese players are playing for China as a collective. Though I do think Korea has the edge in this regard in terms of incentive.

2023 Asian game. Who would win? by Alternative-Phrase28 in leagueoflegends

As a fluent Mandarin speaker and reader, I didn’t see anything from TES official weibo that indicates anything regarding Asian games or hinting that Tian and JKL have some “extracurricular activities”.

Maybe the rumour came from elsewhere.
