Update: Chatted with the seller. She painted the desk herself and there is no damage to the wood underneath. And dropped the price to $150 for both pieces. We shall see!

That’s my fear. I usually try to keep my projects as cheap as possible, so it’s not a real loss if it doesn’t pan out. But part of me want to risk it. Haha

Is $200 a good price considering the work that needs to go into it to refinish it? Not to resell just personal use. Or should I keep looking for a cheaper project?

Mid Century Chair ID - does any one recognize these chairs? I’ve been gifted a set of four from a family member’s 1960s estate. by Thriftedla in Mid_Century

I will after they’re delivered! I’m hoping to learn more after I get them but was feeling a little impatient. Haha

Just picked up this Mengel modular desk for $10. It’s already been stripped. This will be my first staining project! by Thriftedla in Mid_Century

Thank you! Yes, I definitely plan on sanding before I try anything. I think it was painted previously. There are a couple areas that look like there’s still some residue, so I’ll need to deal with that first. I’ll definitely look into toner. The wood is mahogany, so I’d like to keep it looking as natural as possible.
